Harbor is seeking a Research and Conflicts Analyst to join our dynamic Research & Intelligence (R+I) team.  Harbor’s R+I team provides comprehensive business, competitive, and market intelligence alongside library operations and conflicts expertise to support our clients across functions. This is a hybrid role that is focused primarily on supporting our clients’ conflict related projects, but which is also responsible for delivering high-quality legal and market research services.

The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated experience in conflicts analysis as well as strong research and analytical skills and will be eager to grow within a fast-paced and collaborative consulting environment.  This is a 100% remote position that can be worked from anywhere in the US.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Conflicts Analysis

  • Conduct comprehensive conflicts reviews related to mergers, lateral hires, and new business intake, following client-defined protocols and using their designated toolset.
  • Analyze search results, identifying potential conflicts and escalating issues as needed.
  • Liaise with client conflicts teams and decision makers regarding project set up and management.
  • Providing training on conflicts to more junior team members and supervise their work and development.
  • Perform supplementary corporate research using tools such as Hoover’s, S&P Capital IQ, and public databases to support client conflicts teams’ decision making.
  • Contribute to process improvement efforts.

Research & Intelligence

  • Perform high quality in-depth legal, corporate and other research to support the client’s librarians, attorneys, paralegals and staff using a variety of resources.
  • Monitor and respond to research requests and coordinate this effort with research team members across all locations.
  • Prioritize and respond to requests, analyze and synthesize results, compile answers and communicate research findings in a clear and concise manner.
Key requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Master’s degree in Librarianship or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution or JD from an ABA-accredited institution is preferred.
  • Knowledge of standard research resources including, but not limited to, Westlaw, LexisNexis, Bloomberg Law, Standard & Poor’s Capital IQ and Hoover’s.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills. Excellent attention to detail and ethical judgment.
  • Proficient in research with the ability to analyze corporate structures and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills, to effectively deliver and explain research findings to attorneys both verbally and through written summaries and analysis.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, thriving in fast-paced environments with minimal supervision.
  • Responsiveness and demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work well independently and to collaborate with client’s team and other contract researchers to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Reliable internet connection for virtual working.
  • Experience of working with Intapp Conflicts is highly desirable.
