About the teamThe Design Foundations team helps product teams across Zillow Group build consistent, accessible, and high-performing experiences on Android. As part of Zillow Experience Design, this team creates and evolves the shared components, patterns, and standards that power Zillow’s mobile products and help teams deliver quality features faster for millions of customers.

About the role

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, Android, you’ll help shape the design system that powers Zillow’s Android experience. You’ll build reusable components, frameworks, and tooling that improve quality, consistency, and developer velocity across mobile teams. This is a strong opportunity to influence how Android products are built at scale, including through thoughtful use of AI-enabled development tools, while raising the bar on engineering excellence across the product lifecycle.

You Will Get To
  • Architect and build reusable Android components, patterns, and infrastructure using Kotlin and modern Android frameworks, including Jetpack Compose, to support consistent, high-quality product experiences across Zillow.

  • Evolve the Android design system to help developers build faster and more effectively, including through AI-assisted and agent-enabled tooling where it adds value.

  • Build and maintain tooling that helps teams generate design-system-compliant Android code and improve development workflows.

  • Uphold a high bar for code quality through technical design, code reviews, testing, and maintainable implementation practices.

  • Manage the component library release lifecycle, delivering reliable, versioned, backward-compatible updates to support production stability.

  • Partner with engineers, designers, and product teams to resolve integration challenges and improve adoption of the design system.

  • Create clear documentation and guidance that helps teams use shared Android components and tooling effectively.

  • Grow your technical leadership by partnering across functions, influencing platform direction, and helping scale the team’s impact across Zillow.
