The Opportunity

Adobe has enabled decades of creative pros to do their best work, and now we're on a mission to empower everyone to express their stories. When we say Creativity for All, we mean it. Creative Cloud Express is a next-generation content creation platform used by millions of individuals, small businesses, social media marketers, students, and educators who want a fast, fun, and frictionless solution to media creation and sharing.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join the Adobe Express Memory Optimization team. We're looking for the type of web engineer who loves to get under the car hood, see why the engine works. Have you investigated issues inside frameworks like Lit or XMob, or diagnosed bugs in Webkit or Chrome? The role involves analyzing and improving the memory footprint of our overall app, developing diagnostic tools to help us understand our usage patterns and leaks, and collaborating across feature teams to address and resolve memory-related issues.

What you'll Do
  • **Analyze & Optimize Memory Usage:** Evaluate the cumulative memory usage of the application to identify high-impact areas for optimization.
  • **Tool & Framework Development:** Develop and improve in-browser memory leak detection tools to assist developers in diagnosing and fixing memory-related problems.
  • **Issue Investigation:** Investigate general memory stability issues, identify root causes, and propose solutions or effective workarounds, including those involving third-party libraries or browser-specific bugs.
  • **Collaboration:** Partner with engineers across the organization to understand memory issues and help mentor them towards solutions.
  • **Automation & Monitoring:** Design and help maintain CI/CD-level automation frameworks and dashboards to maintain memory health and stability.
  • Standard Methodologies: Develop and promote standard methodologies for memory optimization among developers.
  • **Reporting:** Regularly report on the state of platform memory health to collaborators and leaders.
What you need to succeed
  • 6+ years of software engineering experience
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, web technologies, and familiarity with modern frameworks (e.g., Lit, React, Web Components, or similar)
  • Experience debugging and optimizing browser-based applications, particularly on memory-constrained environments like iOS
  • Deep understanding of browser memory models, garbage collection, and common sources of memory leaks
  • Experience with profiling tools (e.g., Chrome DevTools, Safari Web Inspector, Xcode Instruments) and crash analysis
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation testing frameworks
  • Proven ability to investigate complex, hard-to-reproduce issues and develop reproducible test cases
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Web
  • Experience working on mobile web apps, especially in resource-constrained environments
  • Knowledge of iOS Safari/WebKit behavior and debugging tools
