The Role:
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Protect team who will help build our next generation Insurance platform. You will have the opportunity to set technical direction for a growing and critical business function within SoFi where the overall architecture is still relatively greenfield and the business impact is high. This is a great opportunity to help shape the evolution of the team and the platform capabilities for years to come.
We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Frontend Software Engineer to join our team in building a state-of-the-art insurance platform. The successful candidate will have a strong background in designing, developing, and maintaining responsive, high-performance, and secure user interfaces and experiences (UI/UX).
As a Senior Frontend Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer experiences, ensuring the performance, accessibility, and reliability of our user-facing applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and testing of our systems and services
- Participate in shaping the technical architecture of the product
- Help translate product requirements into user stories and technical solutions
- Deliver highly available and scalable services in a production environment
- Mentor other engineers, support the technical culture, and help grow the team
- Generate ideas for new initiatives and technologies
- Communicate with project leads, product managers and other software developers
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years programming experience, ideally on a modern stack
- Our core frontend stack includes JavaScript/TypeScript, React, HTML5, and CSS
- 3+ years experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern frontend framework like React
- A solid understanding of UI/UX principles, state management (e.g., Redux, Context API), and cross-browser compatibility
- Experience integrating frontend applications with RESTful APIs or GraphQL
- Experience working with GIT and CI/CD systems
- Effective communication skills
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves, collaborate with others and get stuff done
- Solid sense of responsibility; driving a project from inception to completion
- Experience working in a collaborative coding environment, refining designs together, working through code reviews and managing pull requests
- View Unit and Integration test as 1st class citizen in software development (especially for UI components)
Nice To Have:
- Experience scaling highly available, mission critical systems
- Full-stack experience, particularly with back-end technologies like Java/Kotlin or cloud platforms (AWS, Kubernetes)
- Insurance Industry Experience: Familiarity with the insurance industry and its specific regulatory requirements
- Experience incorporating LLMs into user flows

The office is located in Pike Tower, just five blocks from Pike Place Market, and houses some of our Engineering, Design, and Product teams - including engineers, product managers, and other technical functions.
