About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Sales Mode team, you’ll shape the systems that help move the clean-energy transition forward. You’ll strengthen our platform, contribute to new greenfield initiatives, and push for thoughtful, scalable solutions that unlock better experiences for solar professionals and homeowners alike.

We’re looking for someone who leads with curiosity, collaborates with intention, and cares deeply about building high-quality software that stands the test of scale. Your Impact

  • Build new functionality for our industry-leading solar design and sales platform

  • Design and maintain APIs that connect seamlessly with financial and sales partners, ensuring a smooth, reliable experience

  • Develop scalable, secure services built for long-term performance

  • Strengthen our agile processes and contribute to predictable, high-impact sprint outcomes

  • Mentor teammates and elevate our engineering culture through shared learning and thoughtful collaboration

  • Champion operational excellence by owning the services you build, including participation in the on-call rotation

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience building and shipping production software

  • Proficiency in Ruby on Rails or Python, with exposure to the other or willingness to learn

  • Strong SQL and Postgres fundamentals, including working comfortably with data models and performance

  • Working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript and React

  • Interest in working across the stack, including database, backend, and front end

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Ability to thrive on a fully distributed team in a hybrid environment

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with GraphQL

  • Experience building and maintaining third-party API integrations

  • Experience working in service-oriented architecture

  • Passion for renewable energy and climate tech

What We Offer

Compensation Philosophy

At Aurora Solar, we foster an exceptional work environment through inclusiveness and transparency. Our pay ranges are anchored to the median of the market for companies of our size and industry. Our pay for new hires is typically set at the start of the position's pay range. This allows for financial growth within the role as the employee builds experience and displays a track record of performance success at Aurora.

Our current base pay ranges in each zone are:

  • Tier 1: San Francisco, CA - New York, NY: $156,200 - $211,400

  • Tier 2: Seattle, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Boston, San Diego: $143,200 - $193,800

  • Tier 3: All Other US Locations, including Colorado: $130,200 - $176,200
