What You’ll Do:

CoreWeave's Storage team builds the file and block storage that the world's largest AI training and inference workloads run on. As a Senior Software Engineer you will build features across our multi-tenant file and block storage services: the NFS file data path, durable block volumes and the Go-based control plane that governs them, all delivered through Kubernetes. Storage at CoreWeave sits next to the GPUs, so the systems you build keep the largest AI clusters in the world fed with data.

About the role:

You will independently deliver well-scoped components across the file and block stack, working alongside senior and staff engineers who own the architecture.

  • Build and improve control plane services in Go: provisioning, tenancy, quota, snapshots and lifecycle policy for file and block storage.
  • Contribute to the file system data path: NFS reliability, IO performance and the small-file workloads AI pipelines depend on.
  • Help deliver file and block as first-class Kubernetes citizens: CSI driver features such as dynamic provisioning, resize and snapshots.
  • Improve reliability, durability and observability of the storage stack with telemetry, metrics and dashboards.
  • Debug production issues in distributed, high-performance systems and turn what you find into lasting fixes.
  • Work cross-functionally with compute, platform and infrastructure teams.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
  • 4-6 years building distributed systems, storage systems or infrastructure services.
  • Production experience with storage, databases or file systems: as a builder of the system, not only a user of it.
  • Proficiency in a systems language: Go preferred, Rust or C++ a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud-native infrastructure.
  • Understanding of distributed systems fundamentals: consistency, replication, failure handling.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear communicator, able to work collaboratively across teams.

Preferred:

  • Exposure to NFS, POSIX file semantics, block volumes or CSI.
  • Storage observability tools: Prometheus, Grafana, ClickHouse.
  • Distributed databases or storage engines: CockroachDB, RocksDB or similar.

We believe in investing in our people, and value candidates who can bring their own diversified experiences to our teams - even if you aren't a 100% skill or experience match. Here are a few qualities we've found compatible with our team. If some of this describes you, we'd love to talk.

  • You love working close to the metal on systems that have to stay up
  • You're curious about how storage is built, not just how it is used
  • You're an expert in shipping reliable Go services and finding out why things break

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
