In This Role

In this role, you will work on evaluating and improving the compatibility, security, and reliability of Windows applications as new operating system features are introduced. You will execute and validate OS updates, investigate application failures, and diagnose issues across both application and operating system layers. The role involves a balanced mix of hands-on execution, deep troubleshooting, and engineering analysis, requiring strong independence, technical judgment, and problem-solving skills. You will collaborate closely with platform and security experts to help ensure modern Windows security features work seamlessly with existing applications at scale.


Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and validate Windows operating system updates and new feature rollouts against application compatibility requirements
  • Evaluate new Windows security features and assess their impact on existing applications
  • Diagnose, debug, and root-cause application failures, including issues originating within the operating system
  • Perform in-depth troubleshooting across applications, OS, and security boundaries
  • Analyze system requirements and enhancement requests, translating them into technical solutions
  • Design, develop, and implement software changes to improve application compatibility and stability
  • Modify and enhance existing applications to align with updated platform or security standards
  • Develop detailed technical specifications, test plans, and test data
  • Conduct unit testing, system testing, and post-implementation validation
  • Create migration packages for system testing, user acceptance testing, and production deployment
  • Perform quality assurance reviews and ensure feature readiness prior to release
  • Independently drive issues to resolution without requiring detailed instructions or oversight

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 8–10 years of professional software engineering experience
  • Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software design
  • Extensive experience designing and developing large-scale or platform-level software systems
  • 7–8+ years of hands-on experience with Win32 application development
  • 7–8+ years of experience debugging, diagnosing, and root-causing complex application failures
  • Strong experience troubleshooting both modern and legacy production systems
  • Solid understanding of operating system concepts, including application compatibility, security, and privilege models
  • Proven ability to work independently, quickly ramp up in new technical areas, and drive progress proactively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Windows operating system internals or platform-level components
  • Exposure to operating system security concepts and application security models
  • Experience evaluating or validating software in continuous delivery or feature rollout environments
  • Background working closely with platform, security, or systems engineering teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings and collaborating with cross-functional partners

Salary Range

At Blueprint, we strive to offer competitive pay that reflects the value of our team members. Compensation for this role is influenced by a variety of factors, including skills, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographic market. For candidates based in Washington State, the anticipated salary range is $125,000 to $140,000/annually. Please note that we typically do not hire new employees at the top of the posted range. Actual starting pay will be determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity. The final salary and job title may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications and could fall outside the stated range.
