Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Senior / Staff Product Engineer with a strong background in web, backend, and AI development. The ideal candidate is highly product-minded and capable of making strategic decisions that drive product excellence. You will play a pivotal role in building robust software solutions while setting high engineering standards for the team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Development: Design, develop, and maintain high-quality web and backend systems that meet product requirements.
  • Strategic Decision-Making: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to make informed product decisions that enhance user experience and business value.
  • Technical Leadership: Set engineering best practices and standards; lead by example to foster a culture of excellence.
  • Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior engineers to develop their technical and professional skills.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals.
  • Performance Optimization: Ensure the scalability, security, and performance of applications.
  • Innovation: Stay updated with emerging AI technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 7+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Experience with LangGraph, LangChain, MCP, LLMs (RAG, fine-tuning, scaled deployments).
  • Proficiency in Typescript, React / NextJs, Python, Java.
  • Expertise in web technologies - experience developing full-stack solutions leveraging websockets, SSE, REST APIs, service workers, and more.
  • Strong backend development skills with experience in Java + Spring, Python.
  • Experience with databases and understanding of data modeling. Experience with Redis, and Postgres are a plus.
  • Deep familiarity with AWS EKS and deploying in Kubernetes.

  • Product Mindset: Proven ability to make strategic product decisions with a focus on user needs and business impact.
  • Entrepreneurial: Experience taking ideas all the way from ideation to execution. Instead of waiting for tasks, you’re proactively identifying areas of opportunity and building them out.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience in leading technical teams and mentoring engineers.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

 

How we work:

  • Small, cross‑functional pods with a tech lead (engineering owns sprint tickets; product owns the what/why and outcomes).
  • Bias to prototype → validate → build; instrument everything; learn fast.
  • High autonomy, high bar, candid feedback, low politics.
  • Hybrid: 3 days/week in our West Loop office; occasional travel for customer meetings and team onsites.
