The Role

Carbon Direct’s Supply Team is seeking an entrepreneurial, expert professional with experience in client management, negotiations, business development, or related roles to join our team as a Senior Sourcing Strategist. In this role, you will manage procurement processes for clients, establish and grow partnerships with project developers, and structure agreements to help accelerate the supply of high-quality carbon removals into the market. 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience structuring multi-faceted partnership agreements, ideally for industrial, chemical, or infrastructure projects (experience with carbon projects a plus, but not necessary)
  • Experience with partnership negotiations and contracting
  • Analytical problem solver who can structure solutions for diverse sourcing requirements
  • Familiarity working with external clients and track record of successful client management
  • Business development, origination, or similar experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to meet informational needs across a wide range of actors
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to meet fast-paced deadlines
  • Collaborative and results-oriented
  • Passionate about climate action
  • Curious and hungry to learn
  • Familiarity with carbon removal, corporate sustainability, energy, or a related field
  • Legal, science or engineering background a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop project developer and supplier relationships
  • Build and grow partnerships with high quality projects through:
    • Prospecting of high-quality carbon credit, SAF, and REC suppliers;
    • Understanding key technical aspects of each technology vertical;
    • Cultivating, maintaining, and engaging prospects through tailored sourcing approaches; and
    • Driving towards deals with high-quality prospects
  • Structure and negotiate commercial arrangements for offtake in collaboration with cross-functional teams within Carbon Direct
  • Manage carbon removal procurement processes for clients, including:
    • RFP development, supplier outreach, and process management
    • Coordination of internal teams for timely execution on project evaluation processes
    • Day-to-day management of client relationships and creation of client-facing deliverables
  • Become the internal expert on market strategy for a set of technology verticals, including market standard contract approaches and supply/demand dynamics
  • Contribute to supply sourcing strategy and cross-departmental processes
  • Articulate Carbon Direct’s value proposition to our supplier base, identify ways to increase our value to suppliers, and represent Carbon Direct at industry conferences

Salary

$138,000-$169,000
