Primary Position Objective:
Under general supervision, INNOVATES and BUILDS new systems, IMPROVES and ENHANCES existing systems and IDNETIFIES new opportunities to apply knowledge to solve critical problems. LEADS Strategy and Execution of a technical roadmap to increase velocity of delivering products and new engineering capabilities.
Essential Functions:
1. PROVIDES technical and thought leadership to the enterprise.
2. COLLABORATES with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve highly complex problems.
3. UTILIZES programming languages databases (.NET, Python, SQL, NoSQL), Container Orchestration services (Docker and Kubernetes), and a variety of Azure tools and services.
4. HOLDS accountability for the quality, usability, and performance of the solutions.
5. INFLUENCES and BUILDS vision with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve complex problems for building enterprise class business applications.
6. ACTS as role model and MENTORS and COACHES engineers to strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product community. INFLUENCES and EDUCTES executives.
7. SHARES best practices and IMPROVES processes within and across teams.
8. ANALYZES cost and forecast to incorporate into business plans.
9. DETERMINES and SUPPORTS resource requirements, EVALUATES operational processes, MEASURES outcomes to ensure desired results, DEMONSTRATES adaptability, SPONSORS continuous learning.
10. ADHERES to GEICO Code of Conduct, company policies, and operating principles.
11. MEETS attendance standard at business location to perform necessary job functions and to facilitate interaction with management and co-workers.
12. MEETS the requirements specified below.
• Must be able to, with or without accommodation, perform the essential functions which include, but are not limited to seeing, hearing, typing, and speaking
• Must be able to use a PC
• Must be able to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and have strong organization/priority setting skills
• Must be able to multi-task
• Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information, and follow processes that have been published
• Must be knowledgeable of software coding and following standards and processes that have been published and the guidelines for the design
• Must be able to provide system training to team members as needed
• Must be able to communicate in a clear, concise, professional oral or written manner, to be understood by customers, clients, co-workers and other employees of the organization
• Must be able to perform under pressure and stressful situations
• May be required to be on call for production support 24x7
• Must be able to concentrate and demonstrate a capacity for learning technical concepts and adapting to new technologies quickly
• Preferred qualifications and experience:
o Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience or
o 10+ years of professional software development experience
o 8+ years of experience with architecture and design
o 6+ years of experience in open source frameworks
o 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
o 3+ years of people management experience


 

Annual Salary

$115,000.00 - $260,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
