The 737 Airframe organization is looking for a design engineer with previous design experience in our 737 product.
The selected candidate will conduct a high level of cross-functional and cross-organizational integration with both upstream and downstream suppliers and customers. Communication, promoting a 'working together' environment, and taking initiative is paramount to the success of the team. - Support for factory/flight-line production stability and improvement projects.
- Design and certification of new or revised structural configurations.
- Serve as liaison between the Airframe organization and EME, Fuels, Propulsion, and other disciplines to ensure compliance.
- Supplier management support for cost reduction efforts, assessment of vendor changes, and vendor production support.
- Guide early career engineers in identifying critical requirements when considering change requests.
- Fleet support, including telex support, maintenance document support, warrantee determinations and SRP's.
- Safety support via COSP/safety issues.
- Use the BPSM process to work through Root Cause Corrective Action activities.
- Working on special design and consultation projects as needed.
- Occasional travel to supplier facilities and airline maintenance facilities
As a Structures Designer, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
- Develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
- Leads performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
- Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
- Assists with investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
- Works under minimal direction.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
- 9+ years related work experience in structure design.
- Experience with CATIA V5 and Boeing specific design tools and processes
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Has previous job experience working on the 737 program in Structures
- Ability to excel in a highly dynamic environment, team-oriented atmosphere
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex, nuanced results in a clear, concise manner that is easily understood by a wide audience
- Must promote 'working together' culture and integrate across multiple functions and organizations
- Have initiative and ability to recognize needs/SOW without explicit guidance
- Be able to provide technical solutions to a wide range of problems
- Familiar with DCCS, ETAC, PDM
