VWC, a local CPA firm is seeking a full-time Senior Tax Accountant. Under the supervision of firm leadership, the Senior Tax Accountant will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, managing tax and accounting responsibilities with increasing independence while collaborating with senior team members for guidance and review. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with individuals and businesses, preparing a variety of federal and state tax returns, identifying tax planning opportunities, and delivering exceptional client service. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills, who combines their technical tax expertise with a client-first mindset. Occasional travel required (1-2 times per year). VWC covers all travel and lodging costs for remote employees.

About the work: 

  • Independently prepare complex tax returns including personal, trust, estate, gift, corporate, partnership, and S-Corp returns with minimal errors for review.  
  • Prepare amended returns, complete tax projections, correspond with Federal and state notices. 
  • Evaluate client work for opportunities and areas for improvement.  
  • Comply with Federal, state, and local statutes and regulations. 
  • Keep client information confidential. 
  • Foster positive relationships with clients.  
  • Ensure that business licenses are renewed and paid on time. 
  • Foster positive communications and working relationships with team members and clients. 
  • Work closely with the manager/partners.  
  • Keep up to date on industry trends, professional readings, and laws as well as professional standards.  
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.  
  • Actively participate in and conduct meetings as requested. 
  • Other duties as assigned.  

 

About you: 

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business or other related field 
  • Two (2) years of experience in public accounting.  
  • Adept knowledge of accounting and taxation principles. 
  • Candidate should be detail oriented, efficient in meeting deadlines in advance of due dates, and efficient in streamlining processes.   
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). 
  • Must be a self-starter, organized, and have an eye for detail. 
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clients, team members and management. 
  • Team player who collaborates with other team members in the organization. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills including conducting research as needed to evaluate all aspects of a situation. 
  • Ability to function in a highly confidential environment. 
  • Ability to pass a background check (includes criminal and credit) upon receiving and accepting an employment offer.
