Title: Interaction Designer (Contract)

Bungie is seeking an Interaction Designer to delight millions by designing amazing player interactions within Marathon. You’ll be responsible for producing UX design work on a cross functional team, evolving problems that are complex and ambiguous into clear actionable design solutions. You'll work from concept to completion by collaborating closely with other designers to achieve your goals.

Responsibilities

  • Convert goals and requirements into viable solutions that follow and complement our UX strategy and design principles.
  • Utilize appropriate UX design methodologies to communicate and validate the player experience: player interviews, flow diagrams, playtesting, high-fidelity mockups, and prototypes.
  • Establish and document strategies, guidelines, and patterns.

Required Skills

  • Effective collaborator: You know how to move a design forward with your team and in discussions with stakeholders using proven collaboration methods.
  • User-centered designer: You are a committed believer in putting player needs at the center of the development process. You know how to incorporate both qualitative and quantitative insights into your design process.
  • Visual communicator: You have comprehensive knowledge of graphic design fundamentals like layout, color theory and typography.
  • Process and team driven: You can break experiences down with a team to ship value to our players. You embrace that an effective user experience needs feedback and iteration to achieve.
  • Systematic thinker: Your design process considers moderate-to-large scale solutions that are sustainable over time.
  • Experience working on a cross-functional product team.
  • A portfolio with UX projects.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience, Cognitive Science or equivalent.
  • Experience in games across multiple platforms.
  • Ability to use design software (Figma, Adobe Suite, etc.) to convey designs.
  • Experience with player onboarding systems.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
