Blink is the user experience firm for the world’s leading companies. We use evidence-driven design to create products that people use, love and remember. With studios in Boston, New York, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle, Blink brings two decades of experience to research, design, and strategy for clients such as Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft, NASA, Starbucks, and USAA.
This opportunity is a part of Blink's Embedded practice which supports long-term opportunities with some of Blink’s largest client partners. We’re looking for a Senior UX Designer to join our global technology team—Engineering—at one of the world’s top alternative investment firms.
Duration: On-going
Location: Remote within the United States
Overview
- You’ll be embedded in our finance and operations engineering squads, working on internal tools that power critical business workflows. You won’t just be making things usable—you’ll be raising the bar across the board: simplifying complex systems, clarifying dense data, and delivering experiences that feel well-considered, elegant, and purposeful.
- There is not a long institutional history of UX practice on these squads—yet. You will help shape it. That means advocating for users (even when their voices aren’t in the room), developing internal processes that make design a co-equal partner with product and engineering, upholding quality in environments that default to speed, and bringing visual clarity to systems where precision and trust really matter.
Your background includes
- 5–8+ years of experience in UX design, including enterprise software or internal tooling.
- Strong UX fundamentals and a track record of using research (formal or scrappy) to inform design decisions.
- A sharp eye for visual design: layout, typography, hierarchy, and attention to detail matter here.
- Confidence working closely with engineers and PMs—especially in environments where user-centered thinking needs strong advocacy.
- An exceptional portfolio that shows how you solve problems...not just how things look when they ship.
- Experience working independently or on a small in-house design team to stand up a new design function and design-focused culture is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with finance, data-heavy interfaces, or business operations is a plus, but the right candidate could come from anywhere if your portfolio demonstrates you understand these subjects.
- You...
- Treat clarity and simplicity as a form of respect for users.
- Are comfortable advocating the case for user-centered design and finding shared ground in environments where technology is the native language.
- Care deeply about craft and sweat the details others overlook.
- Understand how to balance business requirements while advocating for user needs.
