As a Sr. UX Researcher for Sinclair Digital, you will own the development of research and insights that drive the way our organization understands and designs for multiple audience groups. You will have broad expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods and know when to apply them in projects across several digital experiences: ranging from customer-facing products, corporate applications, and internal workflow-driven tools, as well as connected TV experiences. You’ll also be expected to translate insights into actionable visual outputs—using tools like Figma to create user flows, diagrams, and low- to mid-fidelity wireframes that help bridge research and design.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Run end-to-end UX research: from early discovery and ideation to design validation (i.e., user interviews, product evaluations, usability testing, surveys, competitive and market analysis, personas, user journeys development, etc.), focusing on customer experience improvements and identifying future offerings opportunities.
  • Visualize and communicate research findings through user flows, diagrams, or low- to mid-fidelity prototypes in Figma (or equivalent tools) to ensure insights are actionable and aligned with design and product direction.
  • Lead research projects across multiple platforms (web, mobile, connected TV) that touch numerous aspects of the audience experience.
  • Work from high-level requirements and ask the right questions to gather all relevant information to guide the research approach.
  • Collaborate with a range of stakeholders – executives, engineers, product managers, business leaders, and product designers to align on research efforts and review recommendations.
  • Communicate research findings across the organization to spread the importance of user research and the positive impact it brings to the product development process.
  • Stay current on emerging research, industry, and technology trends.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in applied product/design research.
  • 2+ years of experience leading project delivery for large, cross-functional projects.
  • Working knowledge in mixed methodologies, with a focus on qualitative research.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Figma (or comparable UX design tools): must show ability to create user flows, diagrams, or low- to mid-fidelity wireframes used to communicate research findings or inform product design.
  • Portfolio or case studies required showing end-to-end research work and examples of how findings were visualized or translated into product direction.
  • Experience in consumer software, digital entertainment, or related field.
  • Solid understanding of the product development cycle (and the relationship between business, UX, and technology).
  • BA/BS in psychology, sociology, anthropology, human-computer interaction, or related disciplines or equivalent work experience.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic. Can demonstrate leadership skills and collaboration across teams using a consultative approach.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have led UX Research for medium to large projects that present multidisciplinary challenges and span multiple platforms and departments.
  • Experience demonstrating ownership of projects and communicating timelines, executing independently.
  • End-to-end research experience with all aspects of the user research life-cycle (study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting, communicating, budgeting, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with lab-based user testing, remote testing, paper prototype testing, iterative prototype testing, concept testing, field research, and survey design.
  • Experience in direct collaboration with product managers, front and back-end engineers, and business or editorial stakeholders.
  • Experience applying visual storytelling to research communication, including basic prototyping or flow visualization to clarify insights and drive product alignment.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
