Job Description

As a Senior Wealth Advisor on the Mariner Ultra team, you will lead relationships with ultra-high-net-worth families, delivering highly customized, integrated advice across complex financial situations.

You will work within a team-based model, partnering with internal specialists to develop and deliver thoughtful recommendations that reflect the full scope of each client’s financial life.

This role is focused on advice quality, depth, and complexity—not sales production or high client volume. This role is built for advisors who want to go deep, not wide.

Responsibilities

  • Lead relationships with ultra-high-net-worth families and serve as the primary point of accountability

  • Run client conversations that go beyond portfolios—estate structures, tax strategy, and family dynamics are core to the work

  • Navigate complex planning scenarios, including:

    • Liquidity events

    • Concentrated positions

    • Trust design

    • Business succession

  • Coordinate across internal specialists (estate, tax, investments, and family office services) to deliver integrated recommendations

  • Own the quality and clarity of advice delivered to clients

  • Mentor support advisors by showing them how to think through complexity, not just execute tasks

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 10+ years’ experience working in a financial planning, accounting, legal or other organization that provides relevant experience

  • Series 65, CFP or CFA required

Skills And Knowledge

  • Experience working directly with $25M+ client households, ideally higher

  • Deep expertise in comprehensive planning across investments, tax, and estate strategy

  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, high-stakes situations

  • Strong communication skills; able to translate complex strategies into clear client guidance

  • High attention to detail with strong critical thinking skills

  • Collaborative mindset; comfortable working with and relying on specialized teams

  • Demonstrated ability to build trust with ultra-high-net-worth clients

Note: All Senior Wealth Advisors must have a clean U4 with no disclosures.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
