This role focuses on the creation and maintenance of high-efficiency delivery pipelines and platform automation tooling that support our teams release cadence of infrastructure, databases and software systems at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and own the creation of shared CI/CD processes for cloud-hosted applications, data and infrastructure.
  • Assist with the automation and maintenance of cloud-hosted infrastructure via Infrastructure as Code.
  • Implement platform tooling and automation that supports our tenancy on-boarding process.
  • Support deployment, configuration, and environment management across the software platform.
  • Collaborate with Development and QA teams to improve build, test, and release workflows.
  • Create and evangelise the creation of automation initiatives that improve consistency in our release processes and reduce manual effort where possible.
  • Assist with cloud platform reliability and deployment troubleshooting.
  • Support colleagues in Product development and SRE as part of a joint responsibility for the successful operation of our software platform.
  • Maintain documentation for pipelines and infrastructure components.

Skills

  • Experience with CI/CD tooling and automated deployment pipelines.
  • Strong working knowledge of cloud platforms, ideally Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools and concepts.
  • Familiarity with modern software delivery and DevOps practices.
  • Scripting or automation experience is desirable.
  • Experience in a high-level programming language such as .NET core is highly beneficial.
  • Experience in managing Database systems such as MS SQL is highly beneficial.

Desirable Skills

  • Typically, 5-7 years of relevant DevOps or platform engineering experience
  • Experience working in cloud-hosted or SaaS environments, ideally in a multi-tenant environment.
  • Right to work in the country of employment.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
