Scopely is seeking a Social Media & Community Manager to join our Star Trek Fleet Command team in the US on a remote basis!

At Scopely, we care deeply about what we do and want to inspire play every day – whether in our work environments alongside our talented colleagues or through our deep connections with our communities of players. We are a global team of game lovers who develop, publish, and innovate in the mobile games industry, connecting millions of people around the world daily.

This role will lead our global social content strategy and player-facing communications. This role sits at the center of our player ecosystem — translating the game roadmap, arcs, features, and live ops beats into compelling, culturally fluent content that resonates across social platforms and within our Discord community.

We’re looking for a strategic leader who deeply understands gaming communities, lives and breathes social culture, and speaks Star Trek fluently. You will shape how STFC shows up in the world — driving engagement, strengthening player trust, and fueling long-term community growth.

What You Will Do:

Social Strategy & Content Leadership
  • Own the global social media strategy across platforms (e.g., X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, etc.)
  • Build and execute content calendars aligned to arcs, feature launches, roadmap milestones, tentpole beats, and franchise moments
  • Lead the creative direction for social content (copy, short-form video, reactive content, memes, community highlights)
  • Identify platform-native opportunities to grow reach, engagement, and organic acquisition
  • Establish a strong, consistent brand voice rooted in Star Trek authenticity and gaming culture
Community Communications & Engagement
  • Serve as a key voice in Discord, engaging directly with players and maintaining a healthy community environment
  • Translate complex game updates into clear, compelling player communications
  • Partner closely with Game Design, Live Ops, Marketing, and Player Experience to ensure consistent and proactive messaging
  • Develop frameworks for patch notes, dev updates, roadmap messaging, and crisis communications
  • Monitor sentiment and feedback, surfacing actionable insights to the game team
Performance & Optimization
  • Define KPIs for engagement, growth, reach, sentiment, and community health
  • Use data to refine content strategy and optimize posting cadence and creative formats
  • Leverage social listening tools to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Develop scalable systems for content production and community response workflows
Franchise & Cultural Fluency
  • Ensure all communications honor the depth and legacy of the Star Trek franchise
  • Activate cultural and franchise moments (anniversaries, show releases, canon tie-ins)
  • Help bridge fandom and gameplay and making STFC the digital home for engaged Star Trek fans

What We Are Looking For:

  • 5+ years experience in social media, community management, or digital content strategy in gaming or entertainment
  • Deep fluency in gaming communities and online player culture
  • Strong knowledge of Star Trek (multiple series familiarity strongly preferred)
  • Experience managing Discord or similar real-time community platforms
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic content plans, not just reactive posting
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to shift tone between hype, informative, celebratory, and transparent
  • Strong cross-functional collaborator who can work closely with product and marketing teams
  • Comfortable operating in live service environments with evolving roadmaps
  • Experience using analytics and social listening tools to drive decision-making
  • Comfortable jumping into creative tools (Adobe Creative Suite or similar) to quickly bring ideas to life with polished, social-first execution

Bonus Points:

  • You’re a Star Trek superfan who can effortlessly connect canon, characters, and cultural moments to gameplay in a way that excites players.
  • You’ve built or grown a highly engaged gaming community (especially on Discord) and know how to turn conversation into momentum.
  • You have sharp creative instincts — spotting trends early, crafting culturally fluent content, and elevating a brand’s social presence beyond the expected.

At Scopely, we create games for everyone - and want to ensure that the people behind our games reflect that! We are committed to creating a diverse, supportive work environment where everyone is treated with respect. We are committed to providing equal employment opportunities and welcome individuals from all backgrounds to join us & embrace the adventure!

Please ensure that the résumé/CV you attach is written in English.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
