LON integrates with a wide variety of software providers across the mortgage insurance space to bring best-in-class products to our clients. Additionally, LON services a wide base of clients, all putting similar but sometimes unique demands on our platform. A software engineer at LON would be fluent in their domain of our product, and would be responsible for maintaining it, enhancing it, and integrating it with other software providers.

We at LON utilize a traditional web development framework based on PHP. However, we are migrating to a microservices architecture, which involves the exciting redesign and refactoring of core features to more modern frameworks. We encourage new and innovative designs.

As LON is a small team, we expect a developer to be able to work primarily independently, given a clear, achievable end goal, and to report on their progress. Furthermore, we expect meticulous documentation and test code to be produced alongside clear, scalable, and maintainable code.

This role will be primarily frontend-focused (in a framework of choice for new projects, in our custom framework for maintainence), but will require the ability to do or understand backend development in PHP and Python.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding certain sections of the existing codebase and resolving tickets related to its maintainence.
  • Enhance and support core services in the LON architecture such as loan pricing, mortgage insurance quotes, and the synchronization of data with loan origination systems like Encompass and Meridian Link.
  • Refactoring of legacy services into modern frameworks.
  • Documenting the new and refactored services that are developed.
  • Writing test code for the new and refactored services that are developed.
  • Integrating services into a REST API or message-brokered system.
  • Communicating with LON, clients and integration partners about the software.

Knowledge and Experience

  • At least 4 years in Software Development
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field
  • Knowledge and experience working with API integrations
  • Experience with Git and Docker
  • Experience developing software for the mortgage industry
  • Fluent in a modern frontend development framework
  • Fluent or nearly in PHP, SQL and Python
  • Preferred: knowledge and experience of the Encompass API
  • Preferred: experience in refactoring legacy applications

We operate remotely, primarily within standard work hours in the Pacific Timezone.

We prefer a developer to be located in Seattle, WA, as that’s where all the development team currently resides. We would like to move to accommodate hybrid remote/in-person work, and the development team routinely meets in-person for lunch.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • 401(k) 2% match
  • Health insurance

Schedule: 8 hour shift, Monday to Friday
