About Ditto:

Ditto is redefining how data moves at the edge. Our mission is to make it seamless for developers to build resilient, real-time applications, regardless of network conditions. Whether you're in a stadium, airplane, or remote military base, Ditto's peer-to-peer sync engine ensures devices stay connected and data stays consistent, even without internet. With more than $145 million in funding and trusted by organizations like Chick-fil-A, Delta Airlines, and the U.S. military, Ditto powers mission-critical experiences across aviation, retail, travel, hospitality, defense, and more. As a globally distributed, fast-growing startup, we’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive team that reflects the wide range of perspectives needed to solve the world’s hardest connectivity problems.

The Role

We're looking for a Software Engineer to build and scale the test infrastructure that ensures our client-side SDKs work flawlessly across platforms and real-world conditions. You'll be the architect behind the systems that validate Ditto's multi-platform SDK suite (Swift, Kotlin, JavaScript, Java, C++, C#, Rust, Dart) and give our engineering teams confidence in every release.

Your mission is to make testing easy and comprehensive. You'll design foundational tools that simulate complex distributed scenarios, create self-service automation for engineers across the SDK team, and build the infrastructure that catches issues before they reach production. This is a hands-on role where your work directly impacts the quality and reliability of applications running on hundreds of thousands of devices worldwide.

What You’ll Be Up To…
  • Design and build test infrastructure that simulates distributed, offline-first scenarios across multiple platforms and device configurations

  • Develop automated test frameworks for validating SDK behavior across iOS, Android, web, and embedded platforms

  • Create self-service tooling that enables SDK engineers to easily test their features against realistic deployment scenarios

  • Manage and scale our device lab of ~100 phones and devices, building automation for multi-device mesh networking test scenarios

  • Collaborate with SDK engineers to reproduce complex customer issues and validate fixes across platform combinations

  • Implement observability and telemetry systems to monitor SDK performance and catch regressions early

  • Build simulation and testing tools for peer-to-peer networking, data sync conflicts, and offline-first workflows

What Helps You Thrive…
  • 3-5 years building automation frameworks, test infrastructure, or developer tooling

  • Strong programming skills in languages like Swift, Kotlin, Python, Go, Rust, or JavaScript

  • Understanding of software development lifecycles and testing best practices

  • Experience with CI/CD systems and build automation

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills working with engineering teams

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent hands-on software development experience

Great-to-Haves…
  • Experience with mobile development (iOS/Android) or cross-platform SDKs

  • Familiarity with distributed systems, peer-to-peer networking, or offline-first architectures

  • Background with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible)

  • Experience managing device labs or mobile test automation platforms

  • Knowledge of observability tools and telemetry systems

  • Understanding of FFI boundaries and multi-language SDK development

Why This Role Matters

Our SDKs are the foundation for applications serving restaurants, construction sites, hospitals, and other environments where connectivity can't be assumed. The test infrastructure you build will ensure that developers can trust Ditto to handle their critical data reliably—whether devices are online, offline, or syncing peer-to-peer in challenging network conditions.

You'll work directly with the SDK engineering team, contributing to decisions about architecture, tooling, and quality standards. This is an opportunity to have broad impact on product quality while working with modern technologies across the entire mobile and embedded ecosystem.

The Benefits of Building with Us

We offer competitive salaries and meaningful equity. We believe everyone on the team should have a stake in what we’re building. Benefits vary by region to make sure you're covered in the ways that matter most. In the US, that includes health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, plus a 401(k) and flexible spending accounts. In the UK, we offer private healthcare through Vitality, a pension plan, and region-specific coverage. For our team members elsewhere in the world, we work with our global employer platform to offer equitable benefits and coverage.

Regardless of where you live, everyone at Ditto can utilize flexible time off. And while we work remotely, our Atlanta and San Francisco offices are open if you ever want a place to work or meet up with teammates.

Apply Anyway

At Ditto, we know game-changers don’t always come wrapped in a “perfect” resume. Years of experience? Every single bullet point checked? Meh. That’s not what drives us.

What does matter?

  • Grit.

  • Curiosity.

  • Adaptability.

  • And a genuine spark for what we’re building.

So if you’re fired up about our mission but not sure you tick every box - hit that apply button anyway. Use your application to show us how you’ll make an impact here.

We’re always on the lookout for exceptional humans who want to grow, stretch, and build something meaningful with us.

Equal Opportunity Employer

Ditto is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. We do not discriminate in hiring or any employment decision based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), marital status, ancestry, physical or mental disability, genetic information, veteran status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or other applicable legally protected characteristics. Ditto is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans in our job application procedures. If you need assistance or an accommodation due to a disability, please let us know.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
