About
Thunder is a Salesforce-native systems integrator backed by Salesforce Ventures. We help growing companies design, build, and run Salesforce so it actually moves their business.

As our Solution Engineer, you are the technical lead in every pursuit. You partner with Client Directors and Salesforce AEs to turn a prospect's business problem into a credible solution, a scoped estimate, and a demo that wins the deal. You are the bridge between what we sell and what Delivery builds, so the promises we make are ones we can keep.

Role + Responsibilities
  • Run discovery. Lead technical discovery with business and IT stakeholders to map current-state processes, data, integrations, and pain points.
  • Design the solution. Shape solution architecture across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Data Cloud, Agentforce, and MuleSoft, and know when not to recommend something.
  • Build demos that win. Configure tailored demos and proofs of concept in Salesforce orgs that speak to the client's own data and workflows.
  • Scope and estimate. Own level-of-effort estimates, assumptions, and risks; draft SOWs and solution sections of proposals and RFP responses with Delivery.
  • Partner with Salesforce. Work alongside Salesforce AEs and SEs on joint pursuits, and earn a reputation as their go-to partner technical resource.
  • Hand off cleanly. Transfer context to Delivery at close so projects start with clear scope, architecture, and expectations.
  • Sharpen the playbook. Build reusable demo assets, estimation templates, and solution accelerators; give product and positioning feedback to leadership.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years in the Salesforce ecosystem, including 2+ years in a pre-sales, solution engineering, or solution architect role at a consultancy or Salesforce
  • Hands-on configuration skills across Sales Cloud and Service Cloud; working knowledge of Experience Cloud, Data Cloud, and Agentforce
  • Track record of scoping and estimating fixed-fee and time-and-materials projects that delivered on margin
  • Ability to run a room: crisp discovery with executives, deep dives with admins and architects, and demos that tell a business story
  • Strong writing for proposals, SOWs, and solution designs
  • Salesforce Certifications: Administrator plus at least two of Platform App Builder, Sales Cloud Consultant, Service Cloud Consultant, or an Architect credential

How Success is Measured
  • Technical win rate on pursuits you support
  • Bookings influenced and sourced alongside Client Directors
  • Estimate accuracy: delivered margin versus scoped margin on closed projects
  • Satisfaction scores from Client Directors, Delivery, and Salesforce partners

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
