Description

VAST Data is looking to hire a Solutions Architect - NeoClouds to join our growing team!

VAST Data is defining an entirely new category in enterprise infrastructure by building the world's first Operating System for AI.

For decades, organizations have relied on fragmented infrastructure stacks—separate systems for storage, databases, messaging, virtualization, and AI pipelines. VAST has fundamentally reimagined this model by unifying these capabilities into a single intelligent software platform purpose-built for the AI era.

As one of the fastest-growing enterprise software companies in the world, VAST partners with the industry's leading organizations to power next-generation AI factories, autonomous agents, large-scale model training, and modern data platforms.

Joining VAST means becoming part of a team that isn't just building another infrastructure product—we're creating a new category and defining the foundation upon which the future of AI will run.

If you're excited by transformational technology, solving problems that have never been solved before, and helping customers build the future - we want to hear from you!

Role Overview

We are seeking a Solutions Architect focused on the rapidly growing NeoCloud ecosystem. This is a highly strategic overlay role responsible for partnering with NeoCloud providers to design and enable the next generation of AI and data services built on the VAST platform.

Rather than positioning VAST as simply a storage platform, this role helps customers architect differentiated services—including AI infrastructure, object storage, databases, vector search, inference platforms, and data services—that become part of the NeoCloud's own product portfolio.

Working closely with Account Executives, Systems Engineers, Product, and Engineering, this individual becomes embedded within the customer's platform planning process, influencing long-term architecture decisions that drive platform expansion and adoption across the full VAST stack.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with NeoCloud customers to design scalable platform services built on the VAST platform, including AI, database, object storage, and infrastructure services.
  • Engage early in customer product and service planning cycles to influence architectural direction before projects reach implementation.
  • Work alongside VAST account teams as a technical overlay, identifying new service opportunities that expand customer adoption and consumption.
  • Design end-to-end platform architectures spanning compute, networking, operating systems, storage, and AI infrastructure.
  • Develop reusable reference architectures, blueprints, design guides, and operational runbooks that accelerate customer deployments and become repeatable assets across the NeoCloud ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with application and service engineering teams to ensure platform designs enable rapid delivery of customer-facing services.
  • Enable adoption of the full VAST platform—including DataStore, DataBase, DataEngine, InsightEngine, and AgentEngine—helping customers build services on top of VAST rather than simply deploying VAST infrastructure.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to provide field feedback that shapes future platform capabilities and solution offerings.
  • Support strategic solution partners and ecosystem integrations, including AI frameworks, databases, and application platforms deployed by NeoCloud providers.

What Success Looks Like

  • Pipeline Influence: Directly contributes to expansion ARR by enabling new workloads, platform services, tenant growth, and capacity expansion within NeoCloud accounts.
  • Expansion Velocity: Accelerates the growth of existing NeoCloud deployments through architecture leadership and proactive engagement.
  • Platform Adoption: Increases adoption across the full VAST platform by helping customers activate multiple products and services beyond traditional storage.
  • Strategic Engagement: Becomes a trusted technical advisor embedded within customers' platform planning and service design organizations.
  • Reference Architecture Ownership: Builds and maintains a library of reference architectures and best practices that drive consistency across Sales, Product, Marketing, and customer deployments.
Requirements
  • 5+ years designing large-scale infrastructure or platform architectures in cloud providers, hyperscalers, enterprise platform engineering teams, or AI infrastructure organizations.
  • Strong background across compute, networking, operating systems, storage, virtualization, and distributed platforms—not limited to storage architecture alone.
  • Experience designing infrastructure platforms that are handed off to application or service engineering teams for customer-facing service development.
  • Demonstrated ability to create technical artifacts such as reference architectures, solution blueprints, design documents, and operational runbooks.
  • Experience building or enabling Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), AI infrastructure, database services, or cloud platform services; experience with database or application services is highly desirable.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills with the ability to translate business objectives into scalable technical architectures.
  • Ability to collaborate across Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and partner ecosystems to drive platform adoption and long-term customer success.

Ideal Background

  • Successful candidates often come from platform engineering, cloud architecture, or infrastructure design roles within hyperscalers, NeoCloud providers, or large enterprise technology organizations.
  • They have designed platforms spanning networking, compute, operating systems, and storage, and have experience enabling application or service teams to build products on top of those platforms. Rather than thinking solely about infrastructure, they think about how infrastructure becomes a service that customers consume.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
