About AZX

Our mission is to accelerate positive impact in critical industries through AI transformation. We specialize in physics-informed ML and enterprise AI solutions that directly address climate and sustainability challenges.

We’re growing quickly and already work with category-leaders in real estate (CBRE), energy (LevelTen Energy), logistics (Flexe) and utilities.

We bootstrapped profitably for our first year and are now backed by leading investors focused on AI, climate and energy.

We work on challenges in clean energy, decarbonization, climate risk, energy systems, and global economics. We’re building our company for long-term success and aim to create the ultimate place to work for those passionate about AI and making a positive impact.

About the Role

We are seeking a Solutions Engagement Manager — a technical, outcomes-driven individual sitting at the intersection of client delivery and engineering. You will be someone who can embed with clients, deeply understand the problems they’re trying to solve, and partner hands-on with our engineering team to build and ship technical solutions that deliver real value. This role will require 2-3 days per week of on-site presence with clients in the Seattle area. If you are not currently based in Seattle but are open to relocating, please make a note of that on your resume.

Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with clients to understand their desired outcomes — not just their stated requests — and translate that understanding into clear, actionable direction for the engineering team.

  • Lead engineers and act as the technical product manager for your accounts: define what should be built, why it matters, and how success will be measured. This includes reviewing system architecture, evaluating data pipeline designs, assessing API integrations, and/or doing technical requirements analysis before handing work to engineers.

  • Push back constructively on unclear or low-value requests. You are not an order taker — you’re expected to dig into the “why” behind a client ask before it becomes engineering work.

  • Hold the development team accountable to commitments and quality, while working as a partner to engineering rather than a manager of it — this is not an Engineering Manager role, and you won’t be expected to carry that accountability alone.

  • Run the core blocking-and-tackling of project delivery: planning, coordination, budget tracking, forecasting, and keeping every workstream honest against its deliverables.

  • Keep the broader strategic picture in mind even though strategy work is not the current focus of this role — know how your projects ladder up to client and company goals.

  • Use and help refine the project management processes, tooling, and automation that our operations function is building out, and give feedback on where the basics are still breaking down.

Core Qualifications

  • 4+ years of project, program, and/or product management experience leading technology initiatives with mid- to large-size customers.

  • Hands-on experience working with or deploying AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics solutions, with the ability to translate between technical and business stakeholders.

  • Strong technical literacy — able to engage deeply with engineers on system architecture, APIs, data pipelines, and ML model deployment, while maintaining strategic oversight.

  • Proven track record delivering custom-built software and data solutions — not just SaaS deployments — with measurable business impact.

  • Domain expertise in one or more of our critical industries (energy, utilities, real estate, logistics, climate, or infrastructure), with an understanding of their unique data, regulatory, and operational challenges.

  • Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives in environments of ambiguity and rapid change.

  • Familiarity with cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure), CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development practices.

  • A tenacious problem solver — someone who gets energized by ambiguous, technical problems and doesn’t stop at the first surface-level answer.

  • A bias toward outcomes over tasks: you ask “what is this client actually trying to achieve” before you ask “what did they ask us to build.”

Why AZX!

  • Be part of a fast-growing, profitable, mission-driven company with industry-leading clients tackling the massive opportunity of AI transformation in critical industries.

  • Competitive early-stage startup compensation (based on capabilities, experience, and location)

  • Bonus eligibility

  • Health insurance with meaningful coverage for dependents

  • Flexible paid time off

  • Equity

  • Fully remote culture with a cluster of teammates in Seattle

Additional Information:

  • Must be based in the Seattle Area for client engagements and travel 2x/year for company summits

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

  • We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time.

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
