Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor foreign language communications and provide real-time verbal summaries and written summaries in English.
- Transcribe and translate audio recordings, written materials, and other source data accurately and completely.
- Perform linguistic analysis to identify patterns, coded language, and relationships between individuals and activities.
- Interpret communications orally between English and the target language as required.
- Maintain logs, summaries, and records of monitored communications.
- Validate and review translation and transcription work for accuracy and completeness.
- Support investigative activities including deconfliction analysis and documentation of relevant information.
- Comply with legal and operational requirements governing monitored communications.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Fluency in English and at least one foreign language.
- Ability to accurately monitor, translate, transcribe, and summarize spoken and written communications.
- Ability to analyze communications to identify meaning, patterns, and relevant intelligence.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate written documentation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment and maintain confidentiality.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum one year of experience performing language monitoring, translation, transcription, or interpretation services.
- Language proficiency equivalent to Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) level 3 or higher in English and the target language.
- Due to federal contract requirements, candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis and must not require current or future employment visa sponsorship. If a security clearance is required, the position will be restricted to US citizens.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting real-time language monitoring or analytical linguist operations.
- Experience working in investigative or intelligence environments.
- Court interpreter certification or professional translation/interpreter certification.
- Experience with transcription, translation, and communications analysis tools.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit for extended periods while monitoring audio and video communications.
- Ability to operate computer systems and communications monitoring equipment.
- Ability to read, analyze, and produce written materials for extended periods.
Position Type & Hours of Work
- Full-time or part-time positions may be available, with compensation and benefits being determined in accordance with the Service Contract Act and the applicable Department of Labor wage determination.
- Work schedules may include shifts covering 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, depending on operational requirements.
- Overtime may be required with approval.
Travel
