Under the supervision of the Director of Investments, works as a partner with the WMAS Investments Team and the WMAS Relationship Managers (RMs) by handling all investment aspects and client investment inquiries on assigned accounts.

Position eligible for candidates based in Bellevue, WA, Spokane, WA, or Boise, ID. 

Essential Functions:

  • Handles all investment aspects and client investment inquiries on assigned accounts.
  • Acts as primary point of contact for fully managed accounts (IMAs, IRAs, Revocable Trusts, Charitable Trusts, and Nonprofits) in a style consistent with WMAS Investments philosophy and discipline.
  • Actively assists Client Development and Front Office teams to acquire new clients, and to expand and retain existing relationships.
  • Assists in the retention of client relationships after initial sale has been made. Participates with RM in client meetings as appropriate.
  • Provides information and education to RMs to assist in their efforts to provide value added client service.
  • Provides recommendations and research to Client Development and Front Office teams, with any variances from WMAS Investments’ style, philosophy, or portfolio construction to be approved by the Director of Investments.
  • Monitors client accounts to ensure compliance with established investment strategies, style and philosophy; coordinates with analysts to initiate any changes necessary to keep accounts within established tolerance bands.
  • Oversees the creation of proposals and presentations to prospects and clients as deemed necessary.
  • Reviews Annual Account Investment Reviews, Excess Cash and Bond Maturities in conjunction with RMs, communicating recommended changes, logic for changes, and receives appropriate approval to execute required changes.
  • Actively participates in WMAS Investments team meetings and strategy discussions.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Investments, assists in the development and implementation of investment and risk management strategies; development of new fee-based products for individual, business and institutional clients.
  • In coordination with Director of Investments, conducts education sessions, producing educational materials and conducting seminars.
  • Works in coordination with Director of Investments to mentor Client Portfolio Managers and Associate Client Portfolio Managers where appropriate.
  • Ensures all activities comply with all laws and regulations as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Actively represents Washington Trust Bank in community activities and organizations in a professional manner to promote the Bank and client relations.
  • Perform compliance and risk management duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA), and/or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) preferred, or working toward those designations.
  • 7-10 years of progressive analytical/portfolio management/client relationship experience and responsibilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of various investment instruments and strategies.
  • Experienced in client service, including but not limited to identifying and meeting client needs, client communications and participating in client meetings.
  • Proven ability and experience with presenting information in a concise and understandable manner to executives, management, employee groups and clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to analyze, synthesize and articulate complex ideas and communicate such to colleagues, team members, and clients
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with and work effectively with diverse groups of people, managing conflict, negotiating for results and developing working relationships with potential and current clients.
  • Proven analytical skills; ability to review and interpret complex data (determining risk, assessing complexity of accounts, etc.).
  • Proven organizational skills to meet deadlines; ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while showing strong attention to detail with high levels of accuracy as needed to deliver a quality client experience.
  • Familiar with state and federal regulations and WTB policies relating to wealth management.

Compensation:

Bellevue - $188,253 - $282,471
Spokane & Boise - $134,466 - $201,765

The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. This position is eligible to participate in an applicable annual incentive plan.
