Kincell Bio is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Director, Business Development who will be a key contributor to a dynamic and collaborative Business Development team. We offer challenging career opportunities, competitive benefits and an environment that recognizes and rewards performance.

We are seeking a talented and innovative individual to join our growing company as we embark on an exciting new venture. Our company is continually building a unique and modern agile CDMO that has high technical acumen, with a strong focus on building strategic partnerships and providing top-notch services to our clients. 

The Business Development leader will be responsible for building and cultivating prospective new client relationships, with the primary goal of signing new contracts that align with the company's revenue targets by site and year.  This role will leverage their existing client networks, and prospect (research, identify, investigate) new company targets and initiate relationships by leveraging online systems (LI, etc.) and through trade shows, conferences, regional events and various other means within the industry.  The Business Development leader must gain a solid understanding of the requirements necessary to identify and satisfy the customer’s needs and to ensure that Kincell Bio can fulfill those needs through communications with key internal and external stakeholders.  They will be the primary liaison with customers regarding new business identification through contract fulfillment.  They will effectively manage the transition to the internal project team once the deal is signed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute business development and sales initiatives
  • Identify potential new clients, arrange meetings with key decision makers within biopharmaceutical companies, and invite core colleagues to participate in the meeting/conference calls when required
  • Work closely with executive leadership to develop commercial strategy, goals, and actions
  • Establish new company relationships within the Cell and Gene Therapy industry
  • Call on prospective accounts, provide technical and administrative product information, coordinate presentations, and support proposal generation
  • Understand the cell therapy market needs and communicate the Kincell Bio value proposition
  • Present Kincell Bio core technical services through written and verbal communications to clients and prospective clients in in biopharma
  • Work with internal teams to translate client needs and expectations into reality
  • Build new strategic contacts, networks, and business relationships
  • Participate in company initiatives as required for securing new business and maintaining relationships with existing clients
  • Advance client opportunities, negotiation of agreements for final signature
  • Coordinate Request for Proposal (RFP) response across Kincell Bio and with prospective clients
  • Transparently track and communicate progress on new and existing customers (pipeline review)
  • Accompany and/or host customers for onsite company visits/audits
  • Identify prospective partners and clients through systematic outreach and attendance of conferences and networking events
  • Work with internal stakeholders in manufacturing, process development, project management, engineering etc. to facilitate successful proposal, negotiation and implementation process
  • Negotiation of SOWs, T&Cs/DMSAs to achieve signed client contracts that are inline with Kincell revenue growth goals.
  • Attend, and represent Kincell, at selected industry meetings and conferences.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.

Required:

  • Proven sales/business development track record of growing a client base and signing contracts
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related, Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology or related life science major is required
  • 8+ years Sales/Business Development experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Key account and territory management experience with academic, biotech/pharmaceutical life science customers
  • Must have understanding of the cell therapy market initiatives and preferably have previous relationships with innovators in these accounts
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and to prioritize projects and customers
  • Results driven, passionate, with intrinsic motivation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence with the ability to develop important relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Polished individual with strong relationship building, delivery and closing skills
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written, with ability to interact successfully with various client levels and internal clients in a complex work environment
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify inaccurate or inconsistent data
  • A hands-on, roll-up your sleeves attitude and an ability to adapt to evolving priorities
  • Experience in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Experience owning end to end sales process with clients.
  • Strong contract negotiating skills.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to actively manage the CRM system

Preferred:

  • Business Development experience in a CDMO environment.
  • Advanced degree in field or MBA
  • Experience working in start-up or service provider environment
  • Ability to work both autonomously and within a cross-functional team
  • Strong leadership and persuasion skills across senior leadership level

Management Responsibilities:

  • Work with CCO to continuously assess and ensure the appropriate Commercial workstreams are in place to support pipeline growth and for contract execution and onboarding
  • Identify gaps in team structure and work with CCO to fill them and train the commercial team
  • Set expectations, provide feedback and coaching, and take necessary action to ensure appropriate performance and goal attainment.

Travel Requirements

  • The position will be expected to regularly travel to conferences, client sites and Kincell sites for client and internal visits
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, as dictated by internal, client, conference and marketing needs

  • This position has the flexibility of being fully remote
