What We Need: 

The Sr. DME Billing Associate will report directly to the Director, Revenue Cycle Management and serve as a critical subject-matter expert across Synapse Health. This role brings deep DME and revenue cycle expertise to support operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and strong financial performance across the organization. 

This individual will partner closely with teams across RCM, Operations, Compliance, Product, Technology, and Finance to ensure accurate billing, optimized workflows, reduced denials, and timely reimbursement. The DME Billing Expert plays a key role in driving continuous improvement across the end-to-end revenue cycle, translating complex payer requirements and regulatory guidance into scalable, operationally sound solutions. 

What You Will Do: 

  • Serve as the DME and Revenue Cycle subject-matter expert for the organization, supporting cross-functional teams including RCM, Operations (Order Intake, Qualification, Fulfillment), Compliance, Product, IT, Finance, QA, and Training & Development. 
  • Provide expert guidance on DME product qualification, documentation, and billing requirements, ensuring accuracy from intake through reimbursement. 
  • Proactively identify trends, issues, and opportunities impacting revenue cycle performance; lead or support initiatives that improve cash flow, reduce rework, and enhance operational efficiency. 
  • Analyze denials, adjustments, and underpayments to identify root causes and develop corrective action plans, partnering with stakeholders to implement and sustain improvements. 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, job aids, and training materials that support accurate billing, compliance, and consistent execution across teams. 
  • Support billing system configuration, updates, and enhancements to ensure alignment with payer rules, DME requirements, and operational workflows. 
  • Partner with and support oversight of third-party vendors responsible for revenue cycle systems, technology, and services, helping ensure performance, accuracy, and compliance. 
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of payer coverage policies, insurance guidelines, and payer contracts to ensure accurate billing and timely payment across commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid payers. 
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with third-party payer requirements and all applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing DME billing and reimbursement. 
  • Act as a liaison between business users and system development or configuration teams, translating operational and billing requirements into effective system solutions. 
  • Contribute to audits, documentation reviews, and compliance initiatives related to DME billing and revenue integrity. 
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned in support of revenue cycle optimization and organizational goals. 

What You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • Expert-level knowledge of DME products, documentation, and billing requirements, including but not limited to oxygen, PAP devices, ventilators, CGM supplies, wheelchairs, hospital beds, and related accessories. 
  • 5+ years of experience working for a DME provider or DME billing organization. 
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, including billing, payment posting, accounts receivable, denials management, and patient financial services. 
  • Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement and collections, medical billing processes, ICD-10 coding, patient documentation requirements, chart auditing, and applicable federal and state regulations. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn job-specific software systems, including practice management and EMR platforms.

Compensation: 

The base salary range for this position is $62,400 – $78,000 annually. This range reflects the anticipated compensation at the time of posting. Final compensation will be based on factors such as relevant experience, demonstrated skills, internal equity, and prevailing market conditions. Compensation discussions are encouraged throughout the hiring process.
