About the Role

The Sr. Manager, Finance Value Stream is a people-first leader responsible for building and developing a high-performing, global Finance Value Stream team while staying hands-on with solution design, roadmap execution, and complex delivery challenges. This role translates Finance value stream strategy into end-to-end capabilities across the full finance operations lifecycle—financial reporting and close, FP&A and budgeting/forecasting, accounts payable/receivable, billing, and the controls and auditability that underpin them all.  This leader brings a global, sustainable approach to how finance systems and data are managed and establishes critical groundwork for long-term change and best practice approaches as we advance our Finance technology and operational maturity.

  • Guide and mentor a global, remote Finance Value Stream team through continuous transformation, evolving team mindsets, building change resilience and enabling greater value through effective human and AI collaboration.
  • Champion and lead both software enabled and AI informed redesign of finance workflows, driving technology adoption and business process transformation with a structured change management approach to improve efficiency, scalability, controls and user experiences.
  • Establish governance frameworks, design standards, and KPIs to elevate delivery quality and platform maturity across Finance systems and capabilities.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Product Owners, configuration engineers, and cross-functional contributors, providing career guidance and performance management.
  • Lead and refine user story discussions to align with Finance value stream features and objectives, ensuring stories are prioritized with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Own accountability over the team's planning on scope, dependencies, and capacity to properly prioritize roadmaps and backlog refinements.
  • Own and continuously refine the team-level backlog, ensuring user stories are clear, testable, and aligned to Finance value stream features.
  • Own and evolve the Finance value stream roadmap, ensuring it reflects enterprise priorities, OKR commitments, and long-range planning outcomes.
  • Partner with Value Stream Owner, Business Architects, and Solution Architects to maintain a unified vision across Finance capabilities.
  • Ensure alignment between the Finance roadmap and GTM strategy, regulatory requirements, and operational readiness.
  • Build and maintain a prioritized Feature backlog spanning the full finance operations lifecycle: financial close, FP&A, AP/AR, billing, reconciliation, and auditability.
  • Resolve complex intra-ART and cross-value-stream priority conflicts using economic framing, WSJF, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Lead integrated change delivery encompassing both system changes and associated finance business process transformation.
  • Proactively monitor Workday Finance product releases, roadmap previews and community best practices to maintain the long-term integrity of Finance systems and drive platform modernization efforts while remaining flexible to evolving business requirements.
  • Maintain hands-on fluency with Workday Finance configuration, ensuring solution design recommendations are grounded in platform reality and the team is leveraging the system to its fullest capability.
  • Collaborate with internal finance customers to define deployment expectations, ensure consistency with strategic direction, and map opportunities to improve workflows.
  • Lead and drive continuous improvement initiatives to incorporate new functionality and emerging AI capabilities to enhance the finance user experience and drive operational efficiency.
  • Identify high value AI use cases, build the business case, and translate them into measurable operational outcomes (cost, risk, cycle time, accuracy).
  • Develop and maintain work instructions and job aids while creating a streamlined, efficient, and self-service approach to Finance reporting requirements.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical and process issues, ensuring minimal business disruption.
  • Ensure compliance with data security, privacy regulations, and internal governance standards across all Finance systems and data.
  • Define and track Finance value stream KPIs; partner with analytics and Finance leadership to monitor performance and adjust continuously.
  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, FP&A, Billing, Risk/Compliance, Legal, and Customer Success to align experience design with operational readiness.
  • Represent the Finance value stream at executive and cross-ART forums; communicate roadmap progress, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership.
  • Participate in ART events including PI Planning, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt sessions.
  • Influence with authority to drive shared accountability and collaboration across the value stream and broader organization.
  • Accept features when they meet the Definition of Done; champion quality and operational readiness at every stage of delivery.

What we'll want you to have:

  • 10 or more years of experience in Finance Operations, ERP/financial systems, or Product Management (SaaS preferred).
  • 5 or more years of people management experience, with a strong leadership presence and proven track record of building, leading, and inspiring global teams.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional delivery teams in SAFe or scaled Agile environments.
  • Familiarity with enterprise ERP platforms (e.g., Workday and Hyperion) and finance data architecture.
  • The ability to lead at the strategic level while staying hands-on with solution design and delivery.
  • Continuously identifying opportunities to improve flow, reduce friction, and drive maximum value across Finance operations.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities; a conceptual thinker with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear messages, impactful visuals, and actionable plans.
  • Self-starter with a strong desire to seek optimal solutions and share discoveries with colleagues.
  • Ability to deliver work that meets all minimum standards of quality, security, and operability.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support a global team.
Preferred Experience and Traits

  • Experience defining technical and user requirements in Azure DevOps, JIRA, or equivalent ALM tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively organize and communicate across technical and business audiences.
  • Root cause analysis and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Highly collaborative and adaptable mindset with comfort navigating ambiguity and changing priorities.
  • Product management experience in Fintech or enterprise finance SaaS products and services.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
