Salesforce’s Office of Ethical and Humane Use is seeking a Sr. Manager or Director of Product Management to play a pivotal role in the design and implementation of products and processes that support the responsible development of AI agents and other emerging technologies. In this role, they will cross-functionally shape and deliver guidance, guardrails, controls, and trust patterns that help Salesforce develop innovative, trustworthy enterprise AI. Their work will directly influence how Salesforce products are designed, developed, and deployed, ensuring they meet the highest standards of Trust.

The ideal candidate will have experience as a Product Manager or builder of technology products (with a special emphasis on AI) and expertise in consensus-building among diverse teams. They will also have experience analyzing and solving issues related to responsible AI and/or ethical tech. The successful candidate will lead key aspects of Salesforce’s Responsible AI & Tech work with internal engineering, product, and design teams by building controls, mitigations, and guardrails and proving their efficacy in partnership with our Testing, Evaluation and Alignment team. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Drive the integration of responsible AI practices and ethical risk mitigations across Salesforce’s products and services. Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to embed ethical considerations into the development lifecycle.

  • Partner with teams to evaluate product roadmaps, technical specifications, and design mockups to identify potential unintended negative consequences. Co-develop capabilities to ensure partner/product teams’ incorporate known risks, mitigations, and customer needs and are prioritized and integrated into the roadmaps.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance the trustworthiness of our products and recommend ways to amplify responsible outcomes in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Cultivate a culture of ‘moral muscle memory’ by coaching and teaching colleagues about responsible AI practices. Promote ethical use of AI among tech, product, design, and go-to-market teams.

  • Work collaboratively with Engineering, Testing, Product Management, Accessibility, Inclusive Design, Technology, AI Research, Legal, Policy, and other teams to ensure responsible AI principles are embedded across all aspects of the business.

  • Serve as a representative of Salesforce’s Office of Ethical and Humane Use to internal and external stakeholders, including executives, employees, civil society groups, customers, and industry forums.

Job Requirements/Skills 

  • Deep knowledge of responsible AI principles, ethical frameworks, potential harms, and unintended consequences. Proven experience integrating these considerations into the design, development, and delivery of technology products.

  • Experience working effectively with engineers, designers, user researchers, and product managers to drive responsible AI practices.

  • Familiarity with software engineering, product management, and product design, particularly in ethical and trusted AI.

  • Strong interest in AI, data ethics, data privacy, workforce automation, and other emerging technologies.

  • Proven ability to tackle complex, large-scale initiatives by synthesizing detailed information and providing clear, nuanced recommendations—even in challenging scenarios.

  • Ability to identify business-impacting challenges, take initiative, and drive meaningful organizational improvements with a balance of big-picture thinking and attention to detail.

  • Skilled in articulating complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences. Capable of driving collaboration and alignment across key stakeholders.

  • Builds and maintains trust-based relationships internally and externally, at all levels of the organization.

  • Willing to question the status quo thoughtfully to enhance team productivity, effectiveness, and culture, while maintaining positive relationships.

  • Thrives in ambiguity, finding opportunities and solutions in uncertain situations.

  • Comfortable driving high-level strategy while managing program details as part of a dynamic, cross-functional team.

  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication abilities.

Skills Desired

  • 7-10+ years business experience with current / frequent CXO or board-level engagement

  • Strong experience on teams delivering significant business results

  • Belief that technology can be a force for social good

  • Knowledge of enterprise SaaS space

  • Working knowledge of Salesforce and its products

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $211,500 to $306,600.

For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $230,800 to $334,600.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
