About the Role:

We're looking for a Senior QA Engineer to drive quality across multiple concurrent projects, partnering closely with product and engineering to catch risks before they reach production. This role blends hands-on manual and automated testing with process ownership and mentorship of others.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Design and execute test cases covering functional, integration, regression, API, and end-to-end testing across web and mobile (Android/iOS) applications
  • Write manual and automated tests; work with the Test Automation team to build and maintain automated test suites
  • Log, track, and perform root cause analysis on defects through full resolution
  • Document test results and provide observations on product quality and process improvements
  • Establish and monitor QA KPIs; support and enhance test processes and reporting
  • Manage testing efforts across multiple projects under tight deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Mentor and support fellow QA Engineers
  • Leverage AI-powered tools to improve test coverage, accelerate defect analysis, and support overall test efficiency [see note below]

What you’ll need:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of quality assurance experience
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, defect lifecycle, and SDLC/STLC
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies
  • Experience writing test cases in BDD/Gherkin syntax
  • Hands-on experience with at least one test management tool (e.g., Jira/Xray, TestRail, Zephyr)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years building automated tests with Playwright and TypeScript
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted testing tools (e.g., AI-generated test cases, code-assist tools, log/defect triage)
  • Experience testing both web and mobile (Android and iOS) applications
  • Strong prioritization and multitasking skills in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
