Help define the future of hardware development! At AllSpice, we’re building the automation engine that powers the next generation of circuit design, enabling breakthroughs in smart vehicles, robotics, rockets, IoT, medical devices, and more.
We’re creating the agile development environment for hardware engineers with a Git-friendly translation layer and automated CI/CD framework for native circuit designs. Think GitHub/GitLab + Copilot, but for electronics.
Our mission is to bring the same modern workflows that revolutionized software: version control, automation, and collaboration to the hardware world.

A core focus of this role is our Forward Deployed Engineering initiative, built on top of AllSpice Actions, our CI/CD and automation framework that lets hardware teams automate their design workflows the same way software teams do. You will work directly with customers to design and deploy integrations with their existing toolchains, turning real-world use cases into reusable platform capabilities. This, naturally puts you in close collaboration with the broader engineering team, and allows you to contribute to other product initiatives well beyond the customer-facing side.
This is a high-impact role that requires significant autonomy and a self-driven, collaborative person. You will be focused on owning major components of our automation engine and integrations. You will:
Work directly with customers and internal teams to design and implement solutions that fit how hardware teams actually operate, from their toolchains to their deployment environments.
Build automation workflows that streamline and optimize circuit design processes, leveraging AllSpice’s platform and backend systems.
Develop integrations with third-party APIs such as PLM and manufacturing tools.
Contribute across the stack, from backend services to front-end interfaces, within the AllSpice Actions product.
Partner with the expansion team on other product initiatives across the stack, ensuring your work has impact not only on the customers you serve, but also the platform everyone builds on, as priorities evolve.
Maintain and elevate code quality, fostering strong engineering practices through reviews, mentorship, and thoughtful design.
Implement a third party integration that allows Hardware Engineers to sync data from their designs in Allspice to their PLM solution.
Build an automation that pulls carbon emission data for parts in a design and creates a report on carbon emissions for a project.
Mock up and implement a visual, intuitive experience for users to build project automations.
Python for actions scripts/plugins
Gitea application soft fork
Go [server-side]
Vue/TypeScript Front-end
GitHub actions for CI/CD
Docker Swarm & Terraform for deployment
AWS
Postgres DB
Rust - backend utility functions
Our ideal candidate should have the following:
4+ years of software engineering experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in a technology-related field
Project management skills with ability to lead and collaborate with varied stakeholders, from engineers to customers, to move projects forward
Can think in terms of the big picture but deliver on the details
Ability to manage ambiguity gracefully, autonomy, and confidence in being self-directed
(Optional) Availability to work out of our flex offices in San Francisco or Boston on a hybrid basis (2-3 times/week)
You don’t necessarily have to be proficient in all of these, but the more you know, the better:
TypeScript, Vue, Python and Go
Github actions development and CI/CD
Common Web Architectures + interfaces
Supportive and smart colleagues, flexible work, opportunity to make a big impact, competitive salary & equity, health, dental, vision, generous PTO, home office stipend.
Note: If you’re interested in this role and have relevant experience that sets you apart, please send an email to [email protected] with links to past projects, portfolios, or specific examples of work that demonstrate your fit. We’d love to hear why you believe you’re a strong candidate for this position and what unique value you can bring to the team.
