The Team

The Adobe Firefly client team is seeking a senior JavaScript/TypeScript engineer specializing in video editing and AI-powered creative tools. You'll be at the forefront of revolutionizing video creation by combining cutting-edge web technologies with Adobe's state-of-the-art generative AI models. We seek to empower the next generation of video creators everywhere by turning creative intent into professional-quality content.

We are crafting new AI/ML powered video editing tools that will democratize video creation while maintaining the power and flexibility professional creators demand. While implementing this far-reaching strategy we are focusing on using product driven development to drive rapid iteration and to continuously deliver measurable impact. This initiative is an outstanding opportunity to shape emerging next generation video products reaching millions of creators worldwide.

The Opportunity

What are we looking for in an ideal video platform engineer? You will be joining a highly collaborative team of application and front end engineers working closely with the internal product teams and stakeholders. Your primary role is to architect and maintain the video editing experience for Adobe Firefly, combining traditional non-linear editing capabilities with AI-powered creative tools. You have a user-centric, detail oriented approach, invite constructive collaboration, naturally strive to be a mentor and always work with a bias towards action. Most importantly you enjoy independently solving complex problems around video manipulation and timeline-based editing, have a deep empathy for video creators, and drive tangible results in a team oriented culture.

What you'll Do

  • Architect and implement web-based video editing features including timeline manipulation, transitions, and effects
  • Design and build interfaces between our video editing platform and Adobe's generative AI models
  •  Help establish architecture and quality coding practices for video processing and editing in the browser
  •  Define long-term solutions for video component architecture using functional programming
  •  Work closely with the design team, product management and our internal clients translating early ideas into interactive video editing prototypes
  •  Engage with video creators to identify problems, A|B test solutions, and refine workflows - Expand your knowledge and skills to stay ahead of the latest developments in web-based video editing and AI-assisted content creation

What you need to succeed

  •  7+ years of professional experience developing interactive web applications, with significant experience in video manipulation or editing tools
  • B.S or higher in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • Well established practice of building and deploying web applications using React, particularly those handling video content
  • High proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript (ES6+)
  • Experience with video processing, encoding, and timeline-based editing concepts
  • Strong understanding of video codecs, containers, and streaming protocols
  • Confidence to be an opinionated, pragmatic developer - especially in the areas of writing high-performance video processing code

Bonus Qualifications -

  • Experience with WebAssembly for video processing
  • Exposure to generative AI models, particularly in the video generation space
  • Professional experience with video or similar multi-track non-linear editors
  • Experience with FFmpeg or similar video processing libraries
  • Knowledge of modern web technologies like WebCodecs, WebGPU, and Media Source Extensions
  • Experience building timeline-based interfaces
  • Background in video compression, streaming, or real-time processing
  • Test Driven Development (TDD) experience
  • Functional programming expertise
  •  AI Driven Development experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several  U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $153,600 -- $286,600 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.

At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans.  Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
