Dive in and do the best work of your career at DigitalOcean. Journey alongside a strong community of top talent who are relentless in their drive to build the simplest scalable cloud. If you have a growth mindset, naturally like to think big and bold, and are energized by the fast-paced environment of a true industry disruptor, you’ll find your place here.  We value winning together—while learning, having fun, and making a profound difference for the dreamers and builders in the world.

We are looking for a Technical Evangelist, Startups to be the face of DigitalOcean within the early-stage founder community.

You will serve as a high-touch technical bridge between startups and DigitalOcean, focusing exclusively on the needs, challenges, and aspirations of technical founders. Your target audience is the Bay Area founder-builder. You’ll earn adoption with early AI-native founders by shipping founder-grade technical narratives, prototypes, and proof points that make DigitalOcean the clear choice for their production workloads.

What You’ll Do:
  • Founder-Persona Advocacy: Be the "boots on the ground" at founder-heavy events—demo days, accelerator meetups, and invite-only startup events. You will identify high-potential startups and act as their first technical point of contact, enabling them to build and scale on DigitalOcean.
  • Strategic "Founder-Scale" Content: Craft code and content specifically for technical founders. Instead of general tutorials, you'll focus on architecture for 0-to-1, cost-optimization for bootstrapped teams, production AI inference patterns, and building AI/SaaS products with speed-to-market in mind.
  • Startup Program Partnership: Work closely with a pod of team members from Partner Growth, Sales, and Product to establish technical credibility and recruit elite AI-native founders to build on DO.
  • High-Impact Onboarding Support: Act as a trusted point of contact for key startups as they land on the platform. You’ll help them navigate technical questions and architectural hurdles as they build and scale so they become successful, sustainable customers.
  • Ecosystem Feedback: Surface "hard-truth" feedback from founders to our Product and Growth teams. You'll help us understand why a founder might choose a competitor's credit package over ours and how we can win their trust.
What You’ll Bring to DigitalOcean:
  • 7+ Years of "In the Trenches" Experience: You have a deep technical background as a founder, CTO, or early-stage engineer who has lived the "0-to-1" journey. You don’t just understand cloud infrastructure; you understand the visceral pressure of building a company from scratch.
  • High-Velocity Prototyping: You are a "Builder First." You can rapidly build, ship, and iterate on high-quality technical prototypes, templates, and "Golden Path" architectures that show founders exactly how DigitalOcean accelerates their specific roadmap.
  • The "Technical Closer" Mindset: You possess a rare blend of engineering depth and Go-To-Market (GTM) intuition. You are motivated by activation and conversion—you aren't satisfied with a "cool demo" unless it leads to a committed founder adopting DigitalOcean as their primary platform.
  • Strategic "Founder-to-Founder" Empathy: You can speak the language of technical trade-offs, burn rates, and speed-to-market. You build credibility not by being an "instructor," but by being a peer who can architect a solution that survives a startup’s first 100k users.
  • Ecosystem "Hunter" Drive: You thrive in the middle of the startup ecosystem. You are a natural networker who can navigate VC demo days, accelerator hackathons, and CTO roundtables to proactively identify and entice high-potential teams onto DigitalOcean.
  • Storytelling with Business ROI: You have the ability to translate complex cloud features into clear business advantages. You can articulate why our simplicity and predictable pricing are strategic assets for a startup’s long-term survival, not just "nice-to-have" features.
Compensation Range:
  • $210,000-$250,000

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
