GEICO’s Enterprise Engineering team is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer- QA Automation to join our new Legal Technology organization. You will build and maintain enterprise legal solutions that operate in a highly performant, efficient, and complaint way. You will play a pivotal role in design and development of legal solutions, shape architecture, and drive innovation to meet the evolving business needs within the Legal Department. Timely delivery of impactful projects that enhance GEICO’s legal service delivery will be a focus. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in software development, been a key contributor within an engineering team, and have legal or similar domain exposure with the skills to collaborate with engineering peers and wide variety of legal stakeholders. 

 

Position Summary

GEICO is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer with a passion for the building of high performance, low-latency Automated Quality Assurance (QA) platforms, frameworks, and tools. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we redefine experiences for our customers.

 

Position Description

Our Staff Software Engineer-QA Automation is a key member of the engineering staff working across the organization to provide a friction-less experience to our customers and maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. Our team thrives and succeeds in delivering high quality automated QA solutions in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, typically ranging from front-end UIs/APIs through back-end systems and all interfacing systems in between. The candidate for this position has proven work experience and proficiency in building efficient and innovative automated open-source QA solutions.

 

Position Responsibilities

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will:

  • Scope, design, build and support an efficient and innovative automated open-source QA solutions that are scalable and resilient
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to understand the business and IT needs
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the automated QA solutions design and implementation phases
  • Lead in design sessions and code reviews with other engineers to elevate the quality of automated QA solutions across the organization
  • Define, create, and support reusable QA components from a business and technology perspective
  • Utilize programming languages like Python, Java, C# or other object-oriented languages, SQL, and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of Azure tools and services
  • Mentor other engineers
  • Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams
  • Triage issues and resolve in a timely manner to ensure quality and on-time delivery of QA support

 

Qualifications

  • Advanced programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, Python or C#, including object-oriented design
  • Proven understanding of microservices oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs
  • Experience architecting and designing new and current systems
  • Advanced understanding of DevOps concepts including Azure DevOps framework and tools
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting skills
  • Advanced understanding of monitoring concepts and tooling
  • Advanced understanding of security protocols and products
  • Experience with continuous delivery and continuous integration/testing
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Architecture assessment and proposals
  • Hands-on technical expertise in automated QA solutions and support related open-source tools
  • Experience with automated QA of large-scale distributed systems

 

Experience

  • 6+ years of professional software development experience with creating, maintaining, and supporting automated QA solutions
  • 4+ years of experience with architecture and design
  • 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
  • 2+ years of experience in open-source QA solutions (Model Based Testing preferred) and tools

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience


 

Annual Salary

$115,000.00 - $230,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
