The Staff Market Research and Customer Insights Manager will lead strategic market research initiatives to identify new opportunities and refine marketing and commercial strategies. This role will partner closely with internal stakeholders to understand their business needs, design research approaches and deliver recommendations.

In addition to strong quant and qual research techniques and stakeholder management skills, this position requires a compelling writer and presenter who can synthesize research findings into narratives that inspire action. Ideal candidates will have a working knowledge of molecular lab operations and workflows.

Responsibilities: 

  • Partner with stakeholders across the organization to understand research needs and translate business questions into clear research objectives.

  • Skilled in scoping and executing evidence-based research for exploratory customer research, concept testing, unmet needs analysis, positioning studies, message development, among others.

  • Advanced understanding of the qualitative-quantitative research continuum, including applying qualitative insights to inform quantitative research design.

  • Independently develop research documents including screeners, short-and long-form surveys and discussion guides. Facilitate workshops and working sessions to gather feedback and ensure alignment.

  • Lead data synthesis and analysis using a suite of tools, including AI, to enhance depth and efficiency. Synthesize findings from multiple primary and secondary research streams into clear, compelling narratives and recommendations for executive audiences.

  • Manage multiple concurrent research projects while maintaining high quality standards.

  • Where necessary, manage custom projects and relationships with external vendors.

  • Actively contribute to the advancement of market research best practices across the company.

  • Provide collaborative ad-hoc decision support and represent the needs of Illumina's customers in all engagements.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of B2B market research experience, with at least 3 years in medical device or healthcare sectors. Experience on the client-side in internal research capacity is highly desirable.

  • Expertise in qualitative and quantitative research design and execution, including in-depth interviews, bulletin boards, communities, diaries, and short and long-form surveys.  

  • Advanced written and spoken communication skills. Superior writing skills with ability to craft compelling research narratives.

  • Demonstrate good judgment in prioritizing competing demands.

  • Knowledge of research recruitment techniques and strategies for hard-to-reach B2B populations.

  • Advanced-level strategic-thinking, problem-solving and change management skills.

The estimated base salary range for the Market Research and Customer Insights Manager role based in the United States of America is: $126,800 - $190,200. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
