The summary above was generated by AI

While LiveKit operates as an infrastructure company, we believe that every detail matters—from backend to frontend, from a single line of code to a single pixel. Design is not just how it looks, but how all the pieces work and fit together — from a developer landing on our homepage to connecting and interacting with our APIs for the first time.

We’re looking for a Product Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate has experience designing developer tools focused on observability and monitoring, and is excited about the future of realtime voice, video, and AI.

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with a cross functional team to design high quality end-to-end features that can ship quickly.

  • Generate insights from customer feedback and stakeholders to design best in class solutions to complex problems.

  • Design scalable, responsive, and accessible interfaces and interactions while contributing to our design system.

  • Continuously and proactively identify and prioritize areas of improvement in our products through a design lens.

  • Collaborate with other designers to level up design across all of LiveKit.

  • Make things ✨.

Who you are

  • 8+ years of experience designing developer-centered or technical products.

  • Your portfolio showcases the design of complex products (such as developer tooling) with a high degree of craft and polish.

  • Collaborative spirit who enjoys working with developers, designers, and stakeholders from the start to finish of projects.

  • Ability to shape the vision for larger initiatives but can also scope design solutions for fast product iteration.

  • Strong grasp of responsive and accessible design principles, ensuring interfaces work well across devices and meet usability standards for all users.

  • Effective communicator with a strong design point of view while also being open and welcoming feedback from team members and stakeholders.

  • Proficiency with Figma + other tools that help you do your best work.

  • Experience designing for OSS, developer tooling, or similar fields.

Bonus

  • Experience designing for highly visual and technical dashboards.

  • Familiarity with coding (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and frameworks like React and Tailwind.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
