We are hiring a Staff Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our Systems Engineering team. The team’s primary focus is working on the federal cloud platform which requires U.S. Citizenship. To succeed in this role, you bring experience working with and managing distributed systems, including job queues, message queues, and event driven architectures that span from the database to the front-end web application. Reporting to the Director, Site Reliability Engineer - Cloud Platform and Architecture, you will:

  • Exercise your understanding of Linux systems and Bash scripting
  • Automate blue-green deployments and reduce platform downtime
  • Own deployments, patching, and remediation
  • Build automation on the platform to manage Zscaler deployments
  • Be a first responder for platform incidents

What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)

  • U.S. citizenship due to the nature of the customers assigned to this role
  • 5+ years of working with Linux systems and scripting
  • Experience with the TCP/IP stack and how to troubleshoot issues; Knowledge of building and deploying highly customized services on bare metal
  • Understanding of Nginx and how to manage web services, including knowledge of RPC and HTTP APIs
  • Experience creating automation using Ansible, Perl, and Go

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with Unix systems, such as FreeBSD, NetBSD, or OpenBSD
  • SRE experience troubleshooting a production level application stack and distributed system on physical hardware
  • Knowledge of Linux and Unix system calls

Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.

Base Pay Range

$115,500$165,000 USD
