The Strategic Communications Generalist develops and leads strategic communications initiatives that advance LifeCenter's organizational priorities and mission across internal and external audiences. Working across the full spectrum of communications functions, and in close collaboration with functional communications leads and specialists, this role develops and executes coordinated communications strategies that ensure consistent messaging and a unified organizational voice. The Generalist helps to connect initiatives across functions, manages cross-functional communications projects, and aligns communication efforts, leveraging specialized expertise to deliver mission-focused communications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Strategic Planning & Communications

  • Develops and implements integrated communications plans that support LifeCenter's strategic priorities, organizational goals, and mission across internal and external audiences.
  • In partnership with communications leads and specialists, serves as a strategic communications partner to organizational leaders, identifying communication opportunities and risks, and recommending effective messaging and engagement strategies.
  • Supports cross-functional communications initiatives by coordinating efforts across communications department functions to ensure alignment and consistency.
  • Coordinates communication activities across multiple functions and initiatives to maximize effectiveness, eliminate duplication, and support an integrated communications approach, in partnership with communications leads and specialists.
  • Helps safeguard and strengthen LifeCenter's reputation through proactive communications planning, strategic message development, issues management, and stakeholder engagement initiatives tailored to key audiences.

Content Strategy, Brand & Storytelling

  • Creates, edits, and manages high-quality and compelling content and communications materials across digital, print, social media, email, video, and other communication channels that reflect LifeCenter’s mission and values.
  • Ensures consistency in organizational messaging, tone, and brand standards across communication channels and audiences while maintaining alignment with LifeCenter's mission and strategic priorities.
  • Identifies, develops, and shares impactful stories that highlight organ donation, donor and recipient experiences, community partnerships, and organizational achievements.

Stakeholder Communications & Engagement

  • Supports internal communication strategies and execution, partnering closely with the Internal Communications Partner to advance organizational initiatives, projects, and change efforts, ensuring internal stakeholders receive timely, accurate, and actionable information.
  • Partners with organizational leaders and project teams to identify external stakeholder communication needs, develop audience-specific messaging, and execute communications that build understanding, engagement, and trust.
  • Supports media relations, external affairs, community outreach and engagement, and external communications initiatives in collaboration with communications specialists, serving as a communications resource as organizational priorities require.
  • Develops and implements messaging frameworks, communication resources, and engagement tools that strengthen partnership communications and stakeholder outreach.

Communications Effectiveness & Issues Management

  • Builds collaborative relationships across the organization, serving as a trusted communications resource who fosters alignment, transparency, and effective information sharing.
  • Assists in developing communications for issues management and crisis response by coordinating messaging, preparing communication materials, and supporting leadership communications during time-sensitive situations.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of communications initiatives through engagement metrics, donation performance indicators, stakeholder feedback and insights, and industry trends to make recommendations for continuous improvement of communications strategies to optimize engagement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with demonstrated ability to develop strategic messaging, organizational narratives, and audience-specific content across multiple channels.
  • Strong strategic thinking and project management skills, with the ability to lead communications initiatives from concept through execution and guide cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret communications performance data, stakeholder insights, and industry trends to inform strategy and optimize results.
  • Highly organized and self-directed, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence across teams and stakeholders, and partner with leads, specialists and organizational leaders effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and working knowledge of tools such as SharePoint, Smartsheet, and Adobe Creative Suite, along with familiarity with content management systems, social media platforms, and communications analytics tools.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in communications, marketing, or public relations.
  • Experience with healthcare or nonprofit marketing and communications preferred. communications, public relations, or a related field, or any similar combination of education and experience is required.
  • Nonprofit organization and/or healthcare experience preferred.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or applicable medical or religious exemption will be required as a condition of employment upon offer.

Benefits and Compensation

LifeCenter Northwest offers medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, accidental death & dismemberment insurance, long-term disability insurance, and travel accident insurance. Employees have the option of enrolling in the following supplemental or voluntary plans: life insurance, short-term disability, accident insurance, hospital indemnity, critical illness coverage and pet insurance. Employees enrolled in our 403(b) program will receive an employer match of up to 7% after one year, employees are auto enrolled at 3% and may change their enrollment at any time. LifeCenter encourages all employees to find balance and well-being and provides all employees access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and provides a quarterly Wellness Reimbursement. Employees enjoy paid holidays throughout the calendar year and earn 119 hours of PTO annually (to start) as well as Health Time Off hours that is earned 1 hour per 30 worked, paid living donor leave, two weeks paid jury duty leave after 6 months of service, and three weeks of paid parental leave after one year of service is complete. PAY RANGE

$40.35 - $58.52 Hourly

The pay range for this role is provided above. Where a candidate’s compensation falls within this range is based on several bona fide factors such as experience, tenure, and other specialized knowledge. LifeCenter Northwest is committed to providing its employees equitable and competitive compensation.

This position is eligible for compensation in addition to the base pay in the form of overtime.
