This position is primarily remote, with occasional visits to a local office or our corporate headquarters for team-building, training, and collaborative project work. These on-site sessions are designed to strengthen connections, share insights, and ensure a seamless experience for our team and customers. Equipment pick-up from a local branch will be required. We will  provide advance notice whenever on-site attendance is required, making these times purposeful and rewarding.

Job Description 

The Supervisor of System & Network Operations for Sunrun will lead, design, deploy, and operate enterprise applications, infrastructure platforms, and network services in a demanding, highly available environment. This multi-functional team collaborates closely with Engineering, Network Engineering, Security, and Technical Program/Project Managers to create, scale, and support critical tools, systems, and network services that enable Sunrun’s business operations.

 

This role is responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, performance, and security of both enterprise systems and network infrastructure, while protecting the organization’s integrity, customers, and data. You are a multifaceted technical leader with hands-on experience across systems, cloud platforms, and network operations, as well as demonstrated success leading large, cross-functional technical initiatives in a matrixed environment.

Responsibilities 

Leadership & Operations 

  • Supervise day-to-day operations for System and Network Operations teams, including systems administration, SaaS platforms, infrastructure, and network services. 

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex incidents impacting employees, business systems, and network availability across Service Delivery teams. 

  • Act as a technical and people leader for a medium-sized team, providing mentorship, coaching, and career development for engineers across systems and network disciplines. 

  • Advocate for your teams across all levels of the organization, ensuring alignment with business priorities and operational standards. 

Systems & Platform Operations

  • Provide oversight, management, and technical leadership for enterprise platforms and SaaS solutions, including but not limited to Google Workspace, Okta, CrowdStrike, Workspace ONE, and related systems. 

  • Partner with business stakeholders and technical leads to identify, recommend, implement, and support scalable, cost-effective system solutions. 

  • Review and analyze existing platforms, tools, and services for efficiency, effectiveness, reliability, and scalability, driving continuous improvement initiatives. 

  • Own application and platform lifecycle management, including budgeting, purchasing, vendor management, renewals, and cost optimization. 

Network Operations (Expanded Scope) 

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for enterprise network services, including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, SD-WAN, and cloud networking components. 

  • Partner closely with Network Engineering and Security teams to ensure stable, secure, and scalable network architectures that support corporate offices, remote users, and field operations. 

  • Oversee monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis for network-related outages, performance degradation, and security events. 

  • Establish and enforce operational standards for network reliability, redundancy, change management, and documentation. 

  • Support network capacity planning, lifecycle management, and vendor relationships (ISPs, telecom providers, networking vendors). 

  • Ensure network operations align with security best practices, compliance requirements, and business continuity/disaster recovery strategies. 

Strategy, Planning & Delivery 

  • Drive quarterly planning for System & Network Operations, including platform roadmaps, prioritization, resource allocation, and operational maturity goals. 

  • Execute and deliver on Internal Tools and Infrastructure vision, charter, and roadmap, including defining and evolving systems and network architecture.

  • Provide input and leadership for architecture, data flow, integration, and solution design decisions across systems and network layers. 

  • Support and promote standardized methodologies for design, deployment, incident management, change control, and post-incident review. 

Talent & Culture 

  • Recruit, hire, and grow a high-performing System & Network Operations team with a strong culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement. 

  • Develop senior technical leaders and supervisors to support organizational scale and operational resilience. 

  • Set clear goals, measure outcomes, and hold teams accountable for performance, reliability, and service quality. 

Minimum Qualifications 

Required Experience 

  • 6–8+ years of experience in enterprise IT operations, including systems, infrastructure, and/or network operations at scale. 

  • 2+ years of experience in a lead, senior, or supervisory role on a technical operations team. 

  • Hands-on experience with enterprise systems administration and SaaS platforms such as Okta, Google Workspace, CrowdStrike, Workspace ONE, or similar tools. 

  • Demonstrated experience supporting and operating enterprise network environments (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi/VPN), including incident response and operational troubleshooting. 

  • Experience partnering with network engineers, security teams, and vendors to support reliable and secure network services. 

Technical Knowledge

  • Familiarity with:

    • Identity and access management (Okta, Active Directory) 

    • Cloud platforms (AWS and cloud networking concepts) 

    • Virtualization and VDI (VMware, VDI technologies) 

    • Enterprise networking concepts (routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, SD-WAN) 

    • Monitoring, alerting, and incident management practices 

  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms for incident, change, and problem management. 

  • Strong understanding of enterprise security best practices and experience participating in security incident management. 

  • Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing AI tools to enhance productivity and streamline workflows, or possess the agility and "growth mindset" to rapidly master new AI technologies as they are integrated into Sunrun’s operations.

Leadership & Skills 

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and data-driven decision-making. 

  • Experience working in fast-paced, growth-stage or technology-driven environments. 

  • Familiarity with agile project management methodologies and operational delivery models. 

  • Passion for building resilient, cloud-first platforms and networks that scale with the business.
