Department OverviewThe System Manager is responsible for and dedicated to the Motorola ASTRO P25 700MHz Statewide radio system in the State of Maryland. This role requires the System Manager to live near the State of Maryland to ensure they are available to address customer and system issues promptly. Our personnel are vital, serving on the front lines to cultivate strong, enduring business relationships and promote our products and services to our valued customers.
Job Description
The System Manager is the primary liaison between the Customer and Motorola Solutions, serving as the central point of contact and communications consultant for all contracted services.
Customer and Stakeholder Management:
Act as the primary contact, working closely with the Customer, Systems Support Center, Dispatch Operations, Product Groups, Factory, System Engineering, System Integration, Field Service Organization, Service Support Network, third-party contractors, and the local servicer.
Meet regularly with designated customer contacts to review maintenance/repair activities, discuss objectives, and address concerns.
Serve as the Relationship Manager.
Contract and Service Oversight:
Ensure compliance with the Terms and Conditions of the warranty/maintenance contract, including: System Administration, Inventory Management, Configuration Management, Site Management, User Support, Vendor Management, Operational Assessment, and System Planning.
Coordinate service activities and enforce contract compliance.
Manage and ensure compliance with response/restoration time commitments.
Manage Emergency Service efforts and escalation procedures using available tools and resources.
Provide analysis, recommendations, and fault diagnostic information to achieve "Best-in-Class" system performance and utilization.
Oversee Contract Renewals and Compliance (Governmental and Motorola contracting requirements and procedure).
Financial and Business Management:
Track and manage financials for service deliverables (overall budget, internal and third-party expenditures, profitability, etc.).
Responsible for P&L Performance and Accurate Forecasting.
Work to set Targets / Goals.
Sales and Project Support:
Assist Sales and Pre-Sale teams in proposal development for offering additional services to the State.
Work directly with the customer on potential opportunities that do not require sales/pre-sale assistance (for both traditional and non-traditional services).
Collaborate with the project team during system implementation and expansion, including coordinating the launch of new services, managing conflicts (resources, schedule, deliverables), and providing appropriate assistance.
Technical Expertise:
Strong working knowledge of Motorola ASTRO25 systems and their customer applications.
Working knowledge of Motorola’s Technology Roadmaps and their impact on future customer needs.
General understanding of communications industry trends and their impact on future customer needs.
Preferred: 2+ years experience with Motorola ASTRO25 system administration and operation, with Motorola training and certification.
Professional Experience:
5+ years experience as a System Technologist, System Manager, Customer Service Manager, or related customer contact position.
2+ years of technical customer service experience.
Preferred: Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field.
Core Competencies:
Must possess excellent interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, and communications skills, both oral and written.
Ability to be a collaborative team member while aggressively working across Motorola organizations to proactively solve customer problems.
Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by the government customer.

Target Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000 USD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
Basic Requirements
5+ years experience in one of the following: IP Networking, CAD, System Management, Network Engineering, Networking Equipment, Solution Architecture, ASTRO 25, WAVE VOIP, LMR, RF Systems, Radio Frequency, Radio Communications, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, System Technologist, IT, Motorola, Military experience, or Public Safety experience.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract(s)
