Job Description:

Are you early in your IT career and looking for an opportunity to turn your technical foundation into hands-on systems engineering experience?

CSI is looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Managed Services team. This is a great opportunity for someone with approximately 0–2 years of experience who enjoys working with technology, solving problems, and interacting directly with customers.

You don’t need to be an expert coming in. We’re looking for someone who understands the fundamentals, is comfortable with Windows environments, and is excited to learn and grow into a more advanced systems engineering career.

What You’ll Do

As a Systems Engineer, you’ll help onboard new managed services customers and implement the technology CSI will use to support their environments long term.

Your work will include:

  • Supporting customer onboarding and systems implementation projects
  • Installing and configuring software, servers, workstations, and related technology
  • Deploying remote monitoring and management tools across customer environments
  • Installing logging, antivirus, security, and other managed-services tools
  • Supporting Windows desktop and server operating systems
  • Assisting with Active Directory user and group administration
  • Supporting Microsoft 365, Entra, and Intune environments
  • Assisting with backups, deployments, upgrades, and server-related tasks
  • Maintaining accurate technical documentation, tickets, and project updates
  • Working directly with customers both remotely and onsite
  • Partnering with experienced engineers and internal teams to troubleshoot issues and deliver successful implementations

This role is primarily focused on desktop and server technologies rather than network engineering, making it a strong opportunity for someone who wants to deepen their systems expertise.

What We’re Looking For

Must Haves

  • Foundational understanding of Windows desktop and/or server environments
  • Basic knowledge of systems concepts such as backups, RAID, deployments, and upgrades
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort working directly with customers
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 30–40%
  • Genuine interest in learning and developing within systems engineering

Nice to Haves

  • 1–2 years of experience in help desk, systems support, systems engineering, or an MSP/managed services environment
  • Experience with Active Directory
  • Exposure to Microsoft 365, Entra, or Intune
  • Azure experience
  • Experience with Windows Server
  • Experience with backups, replication, software installations, or hardware deployments
  • CompTIA A+, CompTIA Server+, Microsoft MS-900, Microsoft AZ-900, or comparable certifications, Internships, technical coursework, home labs, and hands-on academic projects are also valuable.

Education

  • Degree from an accredited institution or trade school diploma in Information Technology, Networking, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant technical training.

Travel

  • This position requires approximately 30–40% travel, potentially involving travel one to two weeks per month depending on customer implementation schedules. Customer-site work is an important part of the role and provides hands-on exposure to real-world technology environments.
