Team Overview: 

As an intern in the Silicon Engineering Organization, you will have the opportunity to work with many silicon engineers on the endpoint IC product (tag). This passive electronic is responsible for responding to commands from Gen2 RFID readers using only RF modulation. You will work with digital designers, analog designers, test engineers, and systems engineers. Your project on augmenting silicon emulation prototyping for next generation silicon endpoint ICs will directly enable faster development of Gen2 extensions (Gen2+), help assist reader firmware development and improve silicon verification. This is a 3-month internship starting in June. 

What you will do: 

  • Work on designing a FPGA verification hardware for cutting-edge RFID tag development.
  • Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team of digital designers, analog designers, test engineers, and systems engineers while developing tools for testing RFID tag functionality on an FPGA platform.
  • Gain experience with existing RAIN RFID readers, gateways, and ICs while automating test capabilities.  
  • Participate in design of ICs that are produced in the billions. 

What you will bring 

  • Current BS or MS Electrical Engineering Candidate
  • 1-3 years of relevant coursework experience
  • Course work in digital design
  • Course work in RTL design of digital blocks (Verilog preferred)
  • Course work or experience with synthesizing RTL for FPGAs
  • Proficiency in a scripting language Perl, Ruby or Python
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Coursework or experience digital logic synthesis, place and route, timing analysis.
  • Experience with taping out an integrated circuit design in academia or industry.
  • Proficiency using standard test and measurement equipment including spectrum analyzers, power meters, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.

Compensation & Benefits:

The benefits listed below may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Impinj and the country where you work.

The typical base pay range for this role across the US is $26.00/hour - $36.00/hour. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties, requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Both market wage data and the mid-point of the pay range is reviewed and used as the starting point for all new hire offers. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
At Impinj certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role. US based employees have access to healthcare benefits; a 401(k) plan and company match among others.
