About the Firm

We are representing a well-established boutique CPA firm that provides comprehensive tax advisory and compliance services to business owners and individuals. The firm is known for its high-touch client relationships, quality work, and long-term client partnerships.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Tax Manager to take ownership of an established book of individual clients and manage those relationships end-to-end. The firm has a full support team handling all data entry and return preparation. You come in to review, sign, and own the client relationships, deliver the finished product, and handle any questions or follow-up with confidence. The focus is on volume and relationship management rather than complexity, making it a great fit for someone who thrives running a large book of business efficiently.

This role is ideal for a strong manager or emerging senior manager who is client-oriented, reliable, and looking for a clear path to growth over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage an established book of individual clients, serving as the day-to-day owner of those relationships and ensuring clients are taken care of from start to finish

  • Serve as the primary client-facing contact, delivering returns, answering questions, and maintaining strong relationships independently so firm leadership can focus on higher-level priorities

  • Review ~400 returns prepared by the support team, ensure accuracy, and sign off before client delivery during busy season

  • Take on more complex tax work in the off-season as a development and growth opportunity, building toward more advanced responsibilities over time

  • Operate independently and run the day-to-day of your book of business while leveraging firm leadership as a background resource when needed

Requirements
  • 4+ years of public accounting or tax experience

  • CPA preferred but not required

  • Strong tax background across individual and entity returns with comfort managing high volume

  • Client-facing experience and the ability to independently manage relationships

  • Reliable, organized, and able to manage a large book of work efficiently

  • Growth-minded with an interest in developing into more advanced work over time

Benefits
  • Competitive benefits and compensation

  • Fully remote work environment

  • Opportunity for long-term growth and advancement

  • Supportive leadership team focused on retention and professional development

  • Collaborative culture with strong emphasis on treating people well and building lasting team relationships

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
