About the Job

The advanced advertising industry is at a pivotal moment, and 2025 represents a transformative year for OpenAP.  As our Product and Engineering Teams have grown, we are in need of a Technical Project Manager with a background in software development to level-up OpenAP’s project management capabilities.

The Technical Project Manager will support the Director of Technology Solutions by leading the engineering team in day-to-day operational tasks from scoping new features and scheduling project work, to creating Jira tickets, coordinating Production releases, and hosting team retrospectives. This person will proactively identify dependencies, keep developers unblocked, keep stakeholders up-to-speed on active projects, and help the Engineering team deliver quality work on schedule.

Why this role matters

As a Technical Project Manager for OpenAP’s Engineering team, your leadership directly impacts when the Product and Engineering teams interact, what developers are working on, how the team stays organized, and overall operational efficiency. By driving the successful delivery of complex projects, you will strengthen OpenAP’s partnerships and ensure our continued success in delivering innovative technology solutions.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Manage development roadmap: plan upcoming sprints with developers to ensure projects are completed and released on time.
  • Facilitate scrum processes: schedule and run agile ceremonies for the engineering team, including sprint planning, grooming, standup, and retrospectives.
  • Assist the team in breaking down work into manageable tasks and estimating effort.
  • Work with Product to ensure the backlog is well-groomed and prioritized.
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings: including scheduling, the creation of meeting agendas and minutes, and driving completion of action items.
  • Identify dependencies and potential risks early, implement mitigation strategies.
  • Foster a collaborative environment where the team can be productive and self-organizing.
  • Provide visibility into development progress and overall project status.
  • Provide strategic insights on operational performance. Continuously refine delivery methodologies and frameworks to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and overall project success.
  • Work with OpenAP’s team to support platform-related questions and issues.
Who You Are

You are a self-starter, with a bias toward action, and you want a team to look toward you for where to go next. You’re obsessed with organization, enjoy doing many different things in one day, and have the ability to focus on details while maintaining a “big picture” view.

You operate from a solution-focused and strategic perspective, allowing you to successfully navigate multiple projects in parallel. When something is ambiguous or requirements change, you’re able to adapt and assist the team in making any necessary adjustments.

Key Qualifications
  • 3+ years as project manager at a software company
  • Experience with agile product development
  • Experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, or other project management software
  • Proven track record of successfully facilitating Scrum teams and delivering software projects on time and within scope
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience performing traditional project management duties such as creation of timelines and Gantt charts using Smartsheet or comparable project management tool
  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
  • Scrum Master, PMP or PO certification
  • Basic SQL knowledge

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
