About the job

We are seeking a Technical Recruiter to serve as the primary coordinator for filling staff openings and the first impression of Bellwood for every candidate. You will own the full recruitment lifecycle for all roles - engineering, design, operations, sales, and leadership - from managing high-volume inbound applicants to scheduling onboarding meetings for new hires, while continuously improving our systems and processes.

This role is ideal for someone who treats recruiting as a business function: you understand that speed, quality, and efficiency matter, and you're energized by building processes that scale rather than simply executing existing ones.

Qualifications

Essential skills:

  • 3+ years of recruiting experience in professional services, technology, or corporate environments
  • Hands-on experience hiring for software engineering roles, including familiarity with modern technical skillsets (AWS vs. Azure vs. GCP; Java vs. JavaScript/Node/React vs. C#/.NET vs. GoLang, etc.)
  • Ability to recruit across functions; while technical hiring is the primary volume, you'll also own sales, operations, and other roles as needed
  • Demonstrated comfort owning and configuring software systems (ATS, HRIS) independently
  • Experience recruiting remote staff, including informal assessment of English proficiency and detecting signals that candidates may be misrepresenting their location, appearance, qualifications, or proficiency through AI or other tools

Helpful skills:

  • Experience with JazzHR or similar Applicant Tracking Systems
  • Experience recruiting in both US and Canada
  • Familiarity with state/provincial employment compliance registration

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the ambassador of Bellwood - the initial and primary point of contact for candidates - projecting our culture while filtering for role and culture fit
  • Manage and improve the recruitment process for excellent candidate experience and high internal efficiency
  • Implement and improve systems to identify viable candidates from high-volume applicant pools
  • Conduct initial phone screens, advancing or rejecting candidates based on role requirements and culture fit
  • Own the operational aspects of all hiring: ATS selection, implementation, workflow configuration, and ongoing maintenance
  • Coordinate with hiring managers to build job descriptions and postings; coordinate with Operations on compensation fit and ranges
  • Equip interviewers with best practices and legal requirements around interviewing
  • Serve as the coordinator and welcoming contact for new team member onboarding, ensuring readiness and scheduling all required meetings
  • Support general People Operations tasks as needed: state/provincial compliance registration, employment status letter preparation, and team engagement activities (e.g., scheduling monthly virtual team events)

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a track record of building and improving recruiting processes, not just executing existing ones
  • Is a self-directed problem solver who takes initiative
  • Thrives in a generalist role where priorities shift with business needs
  • Is comfortable leveraging tools, automation, and process improvements to manage high applicant volume efficiently
Has a track record of building efficient recruiting processes, not just executing existing ones

Performance Expectations:

  • Sustain a process where internal recruitment (no external recruiters) fills new individual contributor roles in 4 weeks
  • Maintain a pipeline of 3 fully qualified candidates passing final interviews per open role
  • Achieve 90%+ 90-day retention for hires

Travel Requirements:

This position requires mandatory travel to attend two key company-wide events annually. These events are essential for our organizational goals and provide valuable opportunities for team engagement and collaboration. The company will arrange and cover all travel and accommodation expenses. Additional travel related to the role may also be required.

Benefits

  • Hybrid/Remote Role
  • Open PTO
  • Subsidized Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Short/Long Term Disability
  • Profit Sharing
  • Company Retreats

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
