SUMMARY

We're looking for an experienced Technical Writer to support our cross-functional Optimization team in translating complex experimentation insights and marketing strategies into clear, compelling communications. You will join a team comprised of Data Scientists, Creatives, Developers, and Producers—working to scale A/B testing program to 150+ tests annually while ensuring stakeholders across the insights and clarity they need to drive confident decisions.

In this role, you will be the voice of clarity: distilling complex statistical analyses, test results, and product insights into newsletters, presentation decks, stakeholder briefs, and marketing artifacts that resonate across executive, creative, and technical audiences. You'll work closely with Data Scientists to understand the "why" behind findings, collaborate with Creatives on messaging and positioning, and ensure that every piece of communication—from a test result summary to a campaign newsletter—reflects commitment to clarity, precision, and impact. If you're passionate about making complex ideas accessible, thrive in cross-functional environments, and have a keen eye for detail and tone, we encourage you to apply.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5–7 years of professional technical writing or strategic communications experience, ideally in marketing, analytics, product, or digital environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical, statistical, or analytical concepts into clear, audience-appropriate language for diverse stakeholders (executives, marketers, data teams, creatives).
  • Strong portfolio or work samples showing clarity, precision, and strategic thinking in written communications (case studies, decks, white papers, newsletters, product briefs, or similar).
  • Excellent command of writing fundamentals: grammar, structure, tone, and style consistency across formats.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams—comfortable collaborating with Data Scientists, Designers, Product Managers, and Creative Directors to produce polished, cohesive communications.
  • Comfort with iterative feedback and revision processes; ability to balance multiple stakeholder perspectives while maintaining voice and clarity.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills—capable of managing multiple content projects across different stages simultaneously without losing quality.
  • Attention to detail: proofing, fact-checking, and maintaining consistency in terminology, metrics, and brand voice across all artifacts.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment while communicating progress and blockers proactively.

Highly beneficial (but not required)

  • Experience in a marketing analytics, digital marketing optimization, or A/B testing environment.
  • Familiarity with experimentation terminology and concepts (statistical significance, sample size, KPIs, test design, multivariate testing, etc.).
  • Experience writing for or presenting to C-suite or executive audiences.
  • Proficiency with presentation and design tools (Keynote, PowerPoint, Figma, or similar) and ability to collaborate with designers on visual narratives.
  • Background in marketing, product marketing, or brand communications at a technology or consumer-focused company.
  • Experience with content management systems, marketing automation platforms, or analytics tools (Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, experimentation platforms, etc.).
  • Track record of developing content strategies that have driven engagement, clarity, or adoption across teams.

DESCRIPTION

Core responsibilities cover three pillars:

TEST COMMUNICATION & STAKEHOLDER INSIGHTS:

Partner with Data Scientists to understand test hypotheses, methodologies, and findings. Translate statistical results—including confidence intervals, p-values, and effect sizes—into clear narrative summaries and visual briefs that help stakeholders understand what was tested, what was learned, and what it means for marketing strategy.

Develop and maintain a library of test result summaries, case studies, and insights that are accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences. Create executive summaries, stakeholder presentations, and decision briefs that synthesize findings and drive confident decision-making across leadership.

CONTENT & COMMUNICATIONS PRODUCTION:

Own the development of newsletters, thought leadership pieces, and marketing artifacts that communicate the value and impact of the optimization program. Write compelling narratives about successful tests, learnings, and best practices that help build momentum and engagement across the organization.

Collaborate with Creatives and Product teams to develop content for presentation decks, campaign briefs, and internal comms that position optimization work as a competitive advantage and center of excellence. Develop scalable content templates and frameworks (test result formats, newsletter templates, brief formats) that allow the program to scale to 150+ tests annually while maintaining consistent quality and voice.

DOCUMENTATION, STANDARDS & PROGRAM ENABLEMENT:

Develop and maintain program documentation that codifies best practices, terminology standards, and content guidelines for the optimization team. Create living style guides and writing standards that ensure consistency across all team communications.

Work with the Program Manager and Data Scientists to develop intake materials, PRDs, and post-test documentation that clarify findings and decisions for future reference. Support the team's knowledge management efforts by organizing, structuring, and making insights discoverable across the program. Partner with leadership on process improvements and tooling enhancements that help the team communicate more effectively and scale program communications.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, Product Management, or a related field.

Minimum 5–7 years of professional writing experience, with at least 2–3 years in a technical, analytical, or marketing-focused context.

Portfolio or published samples demonstrating strong command of technical communication, clarity under complexity, and audience adaptation.

Pay:

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.  The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.  A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $100,000-$120,000. In addition, for the current performance period, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.

Benefits:

As a full-time employee of the company or as an hourly employee working more than 30 hours per week, you will be eligible to participate in the health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans in accordance with the plan documents, which may be amended from time to time. You will be eligible for benefits on the first day of employment with the Company. In addition, you are eligible to participate in the Company 401(k) Plan after 30 days of employment, in accordance with the applicable plan terms. The Company provides for 11 paid holidays and 12 weeks of Parental Leave. We also follow a "free time" PTO policy, allowing you the flexibility to take time needed for either sick time or vacation.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
