Job Description

This project is a critical part of a company-wide tech stack transformation initiative aimed at simplifying our enterprise software ecosystem and achieving an optimized cost structure. We are seeking an experienced independent contractor to lead a cross-functional project to assess current enterprise software usage, evaluate alternatives, and design a framework for strategic contract decision-making going forward.

Location: On-site in Washington, D.C.

Reports To: Steering Group (Strategy, Engineering, Finance)

Contract Duration: 6 months

Start Date: ASAP

Compensation: $85–$125 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and Execute a Project Plan: Define scope, timeline, and milestones aligned with project objectives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Conduct interviews across departments to understand software usage, dependencies, business needs, and alternatives.
  • Contract Landscape Analysis: Map existing contracts, identify redundancies, and assess switching costs.
  • Financial Impact Assessment: Evaluate potential savings and operational impacts of decommissioning, consolidating, or replacing software tools.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Facilitate collaboration among department stakeholders to prioritize opportunities.
  • Alternative Solutions Research: Identify cost-effective replacement solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Change Management: Support teams through decision-making and transition planning to ensure minimal disruption. Lead change management efforts for system transitions, including stakeholder education, adoption planning, and end-user support.
  • System Evangelism and Enablement: Champion the benefits of the new system by developing compelling use cases, demonstrating capabilities to business stakeholders, and driving organization-wide adoption through clear communication of value.
  • Governance Framework Development: Design and implement a sustainable procurement process for future software selection and contract management.
  • Reporting: Present findings and recommendations to the Steering Group and executive stakeholders; track progress and maintain accountability.

  • Contract landscape map.
  • Cost and tech stack optimization recommendation and roadmap report.
  • New tech procurement process design and implementation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management within technology or procurement domains.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise software ecosystems and SaaS contract structures.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex organizations and drive alignment across cross-functional teams.
  • Financial acumen to analyze cost savings and assess trade-offs.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in designing or improving technology procurement.
