Job Summary & Responsibilities

Position: Teen Program Coordinator


Wage: $20.06 to $20.74 per hour (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Shift: Monday 8-11:30 pm & Saturday 5-8:30pm

Location: Lakewood Family YMCA, Lakewood, WA

 

The YMCA is looking for an enthusiastic Teen Program Coordinator to help bring our youth programs to life.


As a Teen Program Coordinator, you will work alongside our Youth & Teen Program Director to create welcoming spaces where teens can connect, grow, and thrive. From planning exciting Late Nite events and developing engaging activities to mentoring staff, supporting families, and helping programs run smoothly.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent (preferred).
  • One to two years’ related experience as a coordinator of people or activities (preferred).
  • Ability to use computer and typical business software and office machines.
  • Positive attitude and previous experience with teens and diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated skills in customer service, public relations, organizational skills, communications, supervision, and file maintenance.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications (preferred).
  • Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
  • Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with planning and coordinating staff interviews, trainings, meetings, and teen events, including Late Nite programming.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans, curriculum, and new program ideas to enhance the teen experience.
  • Support the supervision, mentoring, recognition, and development of part-time instructors, volunteers, and program participants.
  • Visit program sites to ensure quality, safety, engagement, and adherence to YMCA standards.
  • Assist with managing teen behavior and fostering a positive, inclusive environment.
  • Support staff and program evaluations, providing feedback and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Create and manage staff schedules, class rosters, and timekeeping to maintain staffing ratios and stay within budget.
  • Monitor program budgets and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for families by responding to questions and concerns through phone, email, and in-person communication.
