Job Description Summary:

Fenwick is seeking a Temporary Communications Specialist who will be responsible for managing and supporting numerous strategic projects and initiatives furthering our external and internal communications goals. This position is also responsible for helping manage and contribute to Fenwick’s online marketing (social media, the firm’s website and blogs), original content development and content marketing (client alerts, white papers, newsletters/bulletins, videos, etc.) public relations and awards and directory submissions. This position requires superb communications judgment, exemplary writing and editing skills, and familiarity with AI tools and workflows.
This position is a full-time exempt role and can be based in any of our U.S. office locations and some remote locations. The estimated duration for this temporary assignment is 6 months.

Job Description:

  • Contribute to the firm’s social media efforts, including creating and drafting original written and visual content, and developing and managing social media advertising campaigns to extend the reach of our content. 
  • Develop, review and edit original content to improve mindshare and visibility for key practice areas, industries, legal themes, issues and solutions. 
  • Research, write and edit a variety of marketing-related materials and content for the website and intranet. 
  • Contribute to firm website and intranet, including content posting, optimizing the website (utilizing Google Analytics and other SEO and GEO techniques), and monitoring and reporting website analytics. 
  • Execute on the awards and directory submissions program; as needed, develop, manage and execute plans for awards nominations and attorney references; help maintain, track and deadlines; and help update the firm’s accolades on the intranet and website. 
  • Work with the marketing technology team to develop tools to disseminate content, including software and AI tools to support our email, blogging and social media programs. 
  • Help report and measure performance of social media, web and communications campaigns. 
  • Maintain and champion marketing style guidelines.  

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position.  

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and complex tasks simultaneously 
  • Demonstrated writing ability and excellent grammar, spelling and proofreading skills; ability to write about legal and technical topics; ability to draft, create and proof high-quality content for external audiences 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships and communicate verbally and in writing in a professional and courteous manner 
  • Well-demonstrated understanding of the firm’s legal services (venture capital, securities, IP litigation, etc.) and the technology industries that we serve (software, AI, life sciences, etc.) 
  • Proficiency with MS Office Products (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel) and research skills required; SharePoint skills preferred 
  • Experience using Canva and Sprout Social as well as various AI tools and workflows 
  • Advanced understanding of current social media platforms, online content distribution, web analytics and search engine optimization 
  • Comfort working alongside AI tools and a curiosity to continuously learn and adopt new ways of working as technology evolves
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented service environment 
  • Ability to prioritize ongoing tasks and significant projects for yourself  
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and be highly organized and accurate
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative and can work independently 

Reporting to the Digital Engagement Manager, the ideal candidate will have 5+ years of corporate communications experience (law firm experience a plus.) Proven track record of successfully developing and executing marketing, communications and social media campaigns and management of complex editorial processes and in-depth content marketing experience required. Demonstrated ability to develop strong narratives aligned with go-to-market strategy required. Bachelor's degree required, emphasis in Marketing, English, Business Administration or similar field preferred.

The anticipated range for this position is:

$84,000 - $120,000

Depending on the role, the actual base salary offered may depend upon a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

A discretionary bonus for eligible employees may also be available based on performance.  Additional information about employee eligibility for benefits and discretionary bonus will be made available upon request.
