Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)
- Conduct daily news sweeps to identify timely, relevant, and high-interest story opportunities.
- Write fast, accurate, and engaging news stories that reflect ELLE Decor's elevated, design-forward editorial voice.
- Translate breaking news, cultural conversations, and emerging trends into polished, accessible content for a style-conscious audience.
- Pitch and execute timely digital stories with strong audience appeal and performance potential.
- Cover news across design, architecture, real estate, art, luxury lifestyle, and adjacent cultural spaces.
- Ensure all reporting is accurate, well-sourced, and aligned with ELLE Decor's editorial standards and brand sensibility.
- Collaborate closely with editors to respond quickly to the news cycle while maintaining exceptional quality and a distinctive editorial perspective.
Qualifications (What We're Looking For)
- 2+ years of experience in digital news writing, lifestyle journalism, design media, or a related editorial field, or equivalent experience.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to produce clean copy under tight deadlines.
- Strong news judgment and the ability to identify stories that resonate with digital audiences.
- Familiarity with design, interiors, architecture, luxury lifestyle, or related cultural topics.
- Ability to balance speed with accuracy while maintaining high editorial standards.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative mindset and willingness to work cross-functionally with editors and other stakeholders.
- Hybrid work schedule based in New York, NY, with an expectation of four days per week in the office.
The hourly rate for this role is $50.00 per hour. This position is not eligible for bonus or commission compensation. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
